Hi guys, found this forum a little while ago and was very impressed. I’m a former member of the Australian Army (Armoured Corp followed by Military Police) and Victoria Transit Patrol (Transit Police) now defunct. I own a couple of S&W handguns that I shot in club competition. My favourite is my 686 Competitor that I shooter in IPSC. Am a avid collector of retired Greyhounds and am now the slave to numbers 5 and 6.
Contrary to popular belief, we can own guns in Australia, however our licensing requirements are stricter than most.

Good onya, mate. Aussies are some of the best partiers I’ve ever met.

I’m always interested in other countries’ gun laws. I travel abroad quite a bit and there’s usually a culture barrier trying to explain that the right to own firearms is in our Constitution. I’ve never been the one to bring it up first in conversation, but I try to explain it as best as I can and it usually ends up as “Agree to disagree.”

You’ll have to explain the “greyhounds” and “5 and 6” to me, though.

Welcome ,I have one of your old service rifles a Lithgow No-1 mk3 Enfield 303,1943 made.

Welcome from a mate who lived in Exmouth (850 miles North of Perth) and loved every day in Aussie land. :D

Welcome from Central Florida near Walt Disney World.
You are correct in assuming that many of us cringe as to the draconian laws and regulations that Australian's need to jump through to own firearms, and can only presume that former military and police may have it a tad easier to acquire and shoot firearms.
Unfortunately your countrymen will never again have the freedom that law abiding citizens of the great state of Florida have, thanks to our U.S. and state constitutions and our proper thinking Governor Desantis.
Even so..Our rights are continuously under attack by left wing idiots and those that can't seem to see the truth of their agendas . Again welcome!
