Hi all
I am glad to be part of this forum and look forward to learning from all you professionals.

I was at the range and shot a friends S&W 9mm It said series 80 on it. He wanted to field strip that after shooting. The take down lever was just like a 1911 but the notch in the slide was one single large notch.

I lined up the take down lever in the center of the slot and pushed on the right end but could not budge that.

Where can I find some info on field stripping the S& W.

I was in a hurry and failed to get anymore info to hlep.

thanks
Jeff

S&W 9MM takedown

Jeff:
Some of the take down levers are very hard. You may have to use a pin punch to force it partly out and then you can take the rest of it out with your fingers. As far as a manual, you can call customer service at S&W, try U-tube for field stripping the gun or you can invest $10.00 on Radocy complete take down manual. You can download it from their website. Radocy Takedown Guides - Detailed disassembly instructions and practical tips to clean your firearm. There are numerous books on the market for that purpose. The NRA has one on handguns and shotguns. There are probably over 300 guns in the handgun book. You can buy it on line at the NRA store.

I don't recall ever seeing "Series 80" on any S&W, but if it just had the wedge stop notch in the slide, then it lines up with the slide stop crossbolt(pivot point), not the lock end of it.

Jeff & series 80

Hey and thanks for getting back. I thought the same when I went to the Colt site because I could find nothing on the big S&W web.

The series 80 shown there looked nothing like the on in hand. I will see my friend this weekend hopefully.

Now I know a bit better what to look for, and I will get the model #, and all that info, and measure the barrel length etc.

The trigger had a good bit of take up (no problem to me) and a terribly hard pull with little creep. The whole system was just great except the weight of the trigger pull.

I enjoyed shooting that.

BTW: I had my local gun store looking for the custom shop 952 long slide and never could find one.
