How's it going. I'm new here, but not new to internet forums. I am not afraid to hide behind a s/n. My name is Matt, if you really want to know my last name I will tell you. But that's here nor there.

So I just got back into shooting on a regular basis after not doing it for almost 10 years. I recently bought a Ruger P95 and obviously a M&P 15/22 since I'm here. Well I can say that the Ruger won't see much shooting time, but doing our monthly bowling pin shoots. I just picked up the rifle on 07-09. I shot 300 rnds through it that day. I was grinning ear to ear and impressed the quickness of getting sighted in at 35 yrds. It just fires so smooth that you can't laugh with enjoyment of this gun.

I was amazed of how many people trick these things out. At first I bought said nah I'm not going to do anything to it. But I want to do 2 things for sure and that is a red dot 2x?? sight, and a new grip. While the stock grip is descent a good grip goes a long way.

So I really only have 2 questions.

1) Other than your local store(I do support them and buy a lot there, just not everything) where a some good reliable online sites. I have seen a bunch some look kind of shady. I know a forum like this there is normally a go to site.

2) Anybody here shoot in or around the Columbus, Ohio area. If so I'd like to hook up and go shoot sometime. I'm always looking for shooting buddies. The guy I normally would shoot with works on weekends now and can't shoot much anymore.

Thanks in advance, glad I found my way over here. Lots of information, seems to be a pretty active forum which I like. I can check a couple times a day and seems will always be something new to read.

Well, welcome to the forum. Here are some of the links I've picked up here:

Really good prices on stuff to hang off your new toy. I've emailed him a couple times and always gotten a quick response. Nicely priced optics.

Scopes, Sights, Lights and Lasers

Same thing here, as far as cheap optics:

Primary Arms - For Optics Accessories and More

A lot of good stuff can be found on Amazon as well, surprisingly enough. Six dollar stock wrenches and the like.

My personal favorite, search the forum for the Crayola mod (or crayon mod, I need to look it up myself).

Be sure to look at the user made tools and short mags.

Overall, it's a good group. I've been researching .22 rifles for a while and it was this group that helped me pick the 15-22.

Oh, and the only downside I can see, so far, is being left handed.

I was sighting in a new scope this weekend, so I was resting on the bench. I'm right-handed, but still got burnt a dozen times. Mine slings shells into the partitions and they bounce back onto me. OUCH!

Hey thanks for the all the links guys. I got to shoot her again today. Again just totally amazed how well this thing shoots with little tinkering with sights. I can move distance and have the thing sighted in with in one clip. I have now shot just over 700rnds through it with no FTL's or FTE's. I'm so stoked.

Anybody get Field and Stream? I was shooting the target they had in it this month @ 35yrds with iron sights. I was happy, but can't wait till payday to get a red dot. I need more eye relief. I was having trouble with picking out the bullseye's in the heart.

Big K I had the same problem today. I had a few bounce backs and land right next to my elbow. I was resting on the bench. Man those hurt.

After I got done shooting the I heart Guns targets I set up differant size black hi-vis target stickers and started doing 2 clips for speed and accuracy. I'd say I was shooting about 90-95% and getting throw 2 clips in about 35-40 sec. Again nothing fantastic, but enough to impress me. My poor 9mm only got 30rnds put through it today. Oh well it was fun. All that matters to me right?

Oh, it's not that bad for me... Probably 1 in 150 rounds so far. At this rate, by round 20150, that whole patch should be pain-free scar tissue.

I'll report back in 2015 or so.

:D
