New J frames w/o lock

Unfortunatly they are only offered in J-Frames...when they start adding k, j and n-frames maybe ill take a look.

does that mean that in 30-40yrs. my 442 with the lock will be worth more than one without????

I think the IL guns will be seen in the same light as post-64 push-feed Model 70 Winchesters: fun to shoot, but not suited to serious work.

Good riddance to bad rubbish if you ask me.

I hope they make no lock 640 & 649s. I need to retire some older ones.

I don't know about the M694, but S&W has a no lock M640 Pro Series listed in the downloadable catalog on their Web site.

It also has a fluted barrel and night sites.

I've got a local shop that has a 40-1 (Lemon squeezer) new in the box with no lock. I really love this little gun, but at $630, it's outside my budget for now. I know a number of the older style guns were made as retro productions without the lock.

I have had two of the newer j frames sans lock.

Bought at 442-2 with no lock that went back to the factory for a loose crane to frame fit and finish issues.

Got back a no lock 442-1 that had a horrid trigger.

Not wanting to send it back again I traded it in for a very good condition 640 no dash. Smoothest double action trigger I have owned in a revolver. Hurts less when I shoot too.

I would love to see some K and L frames without a lock.

That 3 inch 686P without a lock...very tempting!

I've been content with good condition older models and find my confidence level is much higher. Think I will wait, like not buying a new model auto until I think the "bugs" have been worked out.

Listening?

Does this mean S&W is starting to "listen" to consumer demand? Hmmmm. This can't be true? There were loads of people who said I should just accept it since things will never change? ;) They couldn't possibly listen to such a statistically insignificant portion of their customer base?

There is a lesson to be learned here. Consumers have more influence than you might think.
