new layout.

In the old format, we could see the recent posts in all the topical threads. Is this going to disappear?

Like this?

I enjoy my privacy, so if Google wants to locate me more than 1,000 miles from where I live, that's fine with me.
On the other hand, I was born and raised in Southern California, so maybe Google knows more than I thought.

I was thinking maybe the G-boys are thinking Texas is becoming the new California. :ROFLMAO:

This is what I see when I click on "Oregon" from your profile.

The only reason you see it is that you've given your browser or Google in those cases the ability to see your location. No one else can see your location.
So, since everything on the planet stalks us by default, if we don't block it, or fall for one of the many attempts to trick us into enabling it, this forum software tracks our location and shows it to the world? That's very, very bad, as far as I'm concerned.

I also see that if I hover over a user who's online, it also shows me what they're currently doing. Disappointing behavior, I think. I have no reason to know or care what another user is doing.

Yep, great that things are "modernized". In the end, I'm a guest here and how they arrange the furniture isn't really any of my business. But broadcasting everything on the jumbotron seems needless.

EDIT: I found where to disable that "show current activity" nonsense. It shouldn't be enabled by default. We should have to choose to enable it. Disappointing, for sure.

The browser you choose on your computer tracks you if you allow it. It doesn't on mine. However, this forum software does not do that.

Then don't look? This is the same behavior as vBulletin previously offered, just not in a "popup modal". Privacy controls are shown here: https://smith-wessonforum.com/account/privacy

Nope, it's still there.
Go to the home page and you see a list of all our sub-forums. "B" in the below photo shows the most recent activity. Click on the link and you'll be taken to that thread.

If you click on the sub-forum ("A"), you'll be taken to that sub-forum and all the threads will be listed in order of most recent activity (see below).

Just imagine all the grief ol' Grok got when he brought fire back to his cave dwelling community for the first time....

• "This stuff is smoky as heck, stains the walls and it'll burn ya, man!"

• "What, we gotta stay up all night feeding this insatiable monster, go out there in the cold and wet to gather wood for it?"

• "Hey, this stuff turned my fresh meat into a lump of charcoal! I hate it, man!"

• "It's too dang bright all the time! Nobody's gonna be able to sleep with that stuff around!"

• "Get it outta here! I liked it before better!"

This is the third or 4th change I've seen here. The "white" background makes it hard for these 84 yr old eyes to see,and I can't seem to find access to my profile where there is supposed to be able to change to a dark background. . Am I correct that the font is also smaller? Or, it is it just my eyes. The layout seems pretty much the same and navigation seems easy enough. Just the location of a few controls are different. I only use on my computer, never on a cell phone.

Click on your user name. Click on Preferences. Scroll down. At the very, very bottom, on the very, very left, is a little moon symbol. Click on that for dark mode.

I like the new format, in dark mode. What I really like is the change in the Forum email format.
If I am searching the forum for a specific topic/question, I will pull up the site from the bookmark and start looking.
But, I find myself hitting the site more often from the email topics. The presentation is brief and easy to anticipate the results.
The change in format has increased my personal use of the forum site by a factor of 10x.

" Lee had grown frustrated with the Cloudfare glitches.... He dug deep into his piggy bank and ponied up for XenForo LTD."

Quite the surprise. An email with "Yesterday's Forum Activity" was a nice heads-up.

keep up the good work !

I love the new forum software—a welcome upgrade. I've been visiting more often since the switch, if for no other reason than to watch the moaning about what doesn't look or work exactly how it used to, and to see how many new threads are created about the new look and feel.

The access to change to a dark style is at the bottom of each page for me, I don't have to go to user options. Click on the moon and you can select either light or dark.

I have scrolled through this commentary on the changes. I was never able in the past to post pictures. What few I did post was from wife helping. I will check it out along with color change. After reading seven pages my eyes are getting tired.
