graded as an expert category , one down from marksman in a past police pistol league, scoring high 450`s to low 460`s out of a possible 470

I went to range yesterday, ran 50 115 remington ranger, range ammo- good stuff for the most part, 50 hst 147 and 15 left over 135 hornady critical duty.

I thought the results would have been better- seems like my shield 1.0 with apex more accurate- did not shoot the shield yesterday though

weapon fully cleaned before range use- 21 feet test,

put on the ML back strap, it seemed that I couldnt get a deep enough grip with the web of my hand between /by beaver tail portion of grip, went home and modified it some to take out
material- next time I will bring medium grip also.

regardless, I dont think that really was the big issue, oem sights are the tritium white sights from truglo- that is the oem what S&W used for the LE version

I guess I got to give it another go, I used an 8inch paper plate

all on plate, but grouping was fair

Not happy with the turn out- my expectations were much higher

kinda down when going home from range

I guess I will also get a bean bag rest and try from stationary

anyone else with similar experiences with compact 3.6 or 4.0
or any other model

Thanks

maybe expecting too much, hav`nt shot for about 3 mo due to currrent situation
I think its closer 5 months since I was at the range. Local range finally reopened Saturday . My S&W M&P 9c 2.0 functioned perfectly; wish I could say they same for me. I swear I could see rust blowing off my hands, wrists an elbows with every squeeze of the trigger.:mad:I think we're all a bit rusty from inactivity. Only one thing to do: shoot more! I'll clean an lube the Smith and be back out there this week sometime; hopefully getting all the rust blown off the guy pulling the trigger;)

I've been getting more shooting in than ever. There is a 100 yard range the Forest Service set up nearby, and there are millions of acres of public land if you want to go set up targets against a hill somewhere.

My 5 inch MP9 is way more accurate than any of the MP40's I owned.
I did put in an Apex trigger as the one in my 2.0 wasn't that good.
I doubt I will put in an aftermarket barrel, my eyes aren't that great anymore so I probably wouldn't get the full benefit of an Apex or other barrel.

I've been shooting Blazer brass and Fiocchi for range ammo, but just ordered a case of Winchester 124 grain NATO.
I bought a case of Federal Champion for my .45 Shield, but haven't been able to find any Fed Champion for the 9mm.
Last week I was out shooting the MP9 and one of my Mini-30s:

I'm sure you didn't make expert your first time out. Give it time and practice.

I was a repeated Small Arms Expert (Pistol and Rifle) when I was in the USAF, but that was 35 years ago. Now I can only hit the broad side of a barn when I'm standing inside. :)

At my age I can barely see the front sight anymore, lol.

I'm that way too. With rifles I can still do well with a peep sight and small aperture opening, that makes the front sight much more in focus than open sights.

With handguns, I was using some bifocal safety glasses with a magnified lower section, but I'd have to wear them upside down to use the reader part of the lens.
Then I saw someone on another forum talking about these, a safety glass with magnified reader sections both top and bottom.
They are $11-$14 on Amazon, and you can get them in different strength diopters.
They are great for my pistol shooting, now I can see the sights sharply again.

I've had the same experience with some of the new pistols I've owned. After I took the time to shoot from a rest, I've found that the problem was with me not the pistol.
I also own a stock 1.0 Shield. It continues to impressive me. It's more accurate than I would have ever guessed it could be.

Just out of curiosity, have you compared shooting the compact with a full-size magazine and grip sleeve? Personally I find I shoot it marginally better than the M&P 4" or 3.6" flush magazines.
