Have a new M&P 15 MOE FDE coming...
It looks like I'll need a sling attachment like the ASAP

I don't have this rifle yet and my LGS did not have this model on hand.

Can some confirm that this model will need a sling attachement accessory to mount at the receiver/buffer tube/buttstock end?

Thanks!

(1st Post, 1st AR, not new to firearms... Thanks!)

I went to Amazon.com and did a search and I bought a loop type tactical type sling and it turned out to really work well.

If you want a single point sling then yes, you'll need to add a sling attachment to the base of the buffer tube. You'll probably want to get a castle nut wrench as well. Be aware that when you remove the buffer tube that it and the end plate holds detents and springs in place so familiarize yourself with the assembly/disassembly procedure so you don't lose any small parts.

Here's a video on installing the buffer tube so you get an idea of what parts are involved.

For a 2 point sling there are slots in the butt that you can loop one end of the sling through.

Or you can go with one made by MI which i really like, requires no removal of the castlenut, and installs in less than 5 minutes...i dont have the link, but google it and it pops up...works as well as i had hoped, and easily installed/removed...

A single point sling attachment will work well with the tactical loop single point sling. But, as Bharada said, you will need a castle nut wrench and be sure to watch the detent pin and spring when you remove the the stock end plate. The spring and pin will be lost for sure. If you can, do the work on a white towel so they show up good when you remove them. If you LGS also does work on guns, maybe have them change out the end plate for the single point sling adaptor. They would probably be able to do that a lot easier and you would not have to buy the castle wrench or have to go through the trouble of ordering a new detent pin and spring (know this from experience :o) after it goes shooting across the room. If you want to do this yourself, you can get the wrence on Amazon for under $10 and a new pin and spring for under $5.:D Again, know this from experience. But, either way, good luck with your choice.

I have the MI's on all my MSR's and they work great. On,done. Never had a problem. I much prefer the double hole over the "loose link" too. Nothing to jungle.

Went with the SLAP Link from Aimsurplus

I wanted an ambidextrous attachment point w/o the loose link of the ASAP. This and an MS3 Sling.
