New M&P .40 shoots way to the left of target.

Assuming it is the gun, the sights are drift adjustable for windage.

Many shooters have a learning curve with their first "combat tupperware" and the long trigger pulls. There are many posts on the subject on this forum.

Someone who is expert at shooting M&Ps could try yours for you and provide advice. Without shooting it, I really can't guess whether the problem is the gun or the shooter.

Well said.

I kinda found the same thing happening with my shield. I finally got to the range and try it and constantly would shoot left. Pulled my 9C out and shot it and bullseye. Haven't measured or anything yet but just looking at my front sight it seemed off center to the right looking from back of the gun so that would explain it.

Move your target to the right? being a smarty pants here...

This is something that will cure itself as you shoot it more.

I just came back from the range about an hour ago. After hearing the "shoots low, or to the left" comments I was anxious to see what mine would do. At 25 yards there was no apparent problem! i.e. no signs of the sights being off.

My M&P 40 was "born" in early February 2013 and I bought it at my LGS last week.

One tangent comment. When I field stripped it yesterday to clean and oil it, it appeared to have no oil or grease on any of the metal to metal contact points. I advise new owners to at least check "under the hood" before taking it out.

Neighbor said he and a buddy shot the 40 and it shot about 4 ft left at 25 yds. He shot mine in 9mm and shot it good so I don't think it was the shooter. Both shooters shot it to the left.

Looking thouugh the sights if I shot off the the target about 2" I would hit 1/8" off dead center at 20-25 yards.

I just got my new M&P .40 last friday was thrilled with the gun but it shoots to far to the left. Has anyone here had the same problem?

If the sights look to you like they are centered, then you are either pulling the shot off and not realizing it or, you are right handed and have your hand cranked around to the side of the pistol to get more leverage on the trigger, resulting in the pistol recoiling to the left. If elevation is where you want, then this latter is the most likely culprit as the pistol recoils a bit while the bullet is still in the barrel, and is it recoils somewhat to the left if your hand is cranked around to the right side, the shot will naturally go to the left.

4 feet to the left? I don't believe it..even with a severe mis-alignment of the sights front and rear in the dovetails it wouldn't be 4 feet off.

Something is NOT right there...

Had a similar issue with my recently purchased FS 40 for several range visits. I hadn't shot since the Army so I worked on my trigger pull and changed the backstrap to one that forced my finger into a better alignment. Still have work to do but the grouping is closer and center target. The M&P22 helped as well after I finally got it after the Peoples Collective of Maryland took 8 weeks to do a 1 week background check for the second time in a month. Fortunately it gives me a good reason to visit the range more often even if it is becoming an expensive undertaking. I guess I've spent more on less fun stuff in the past. Uh nevermind.
