I finally "pulled the trigger" and bought me a new pistol. I did some serious research and then did some touchy / feely stuff at the local gun store. I tried to like the Glock 19 Gen 4 and was about to jump on that bandwagon when the store owner asked if I had held the M&P Pro?

I told him I had not, so he pulled his personal carry M&P and handed it to me (after pulling the magazine and clearing the chamber). I couldn't believe how good the pistol felt. It's not great because it needs more stippling, but talk about a "skinny" feeling pistol! And this is a 17+1 rounder!

I bought one right then and am glad I did. It seems to weigh less than my Rutgers SR9c and its only a little bigger in length and height, but it feels lighter.

So, now I've got to clean it up real good and find me a shootin' range.

Then I might hang a red dot sight on it and see how much fun that will be!

Oh, I also fondled a XDm and an XD mod 2. Both felt worse than the Glock 19. Hard as brick grips. Wonder why?

I'll post a range report soon, I hope.

Arndog123 - as this is going to be my daily carry for a while, I don't think a jury would look too kindly on a quick, smooth trigger as just a self defense weapon. But, in south Texas (San Antonio) they don't look too kindly on bad guys either!

I'll look into it.

Thanks!

Why would a trigger be a bad thing in court?

A good trigger helps you stay on target, you dont want to miss and hit an innocent. Same for sights, and hollow points....self defense ammo to be P.C..

It does not matter what happens, or how the sidearm is modified, they will do everything to paint you as a bad guy.

Just do it.

Besides, the odds of you having to use that pistol, is like the odds of you hitting the powerball ;)

I like my M&P's with Apex parts in them. That being said, I usually put around 500 rounds through them before modifying them. If this is going to be your daily carry gun, and you decide to put Apex parts in it, then I recommend the duty carry kit (DCAEK). It helps smooth out the trigger. I ended up doing this on both of our 9c's. I also ended up swapping out the physical factory trigger for an Apex trigger. I did not like how the trigger felt.
I would shoot it for a few hundred rounds before you make any changes. Lots of people love their guns completely stock.

AGoyette - I'm going to check out the duty carry kit . I'm also going to do as you said and fire 500 rounds through it before I make any mods. Lately, in haven't even had the time to clean it yet! I do think the stock trigger seems pretty nice although I haven't even shot a the pistol yet.

My wife decided to carry a G19 and i have an M&P9c. Every time I shoot her gun, I think how crappy that grip feels compared to mine. It is working for her though so I don't say a word.
