Hello all, relatively new here to the forum, been reading gun reviews for a while now and just purchased a black M&P 45 with the 4 1/2 inch barrel. To be honest I was originally looking for a Glock 21 Gen. 4 and after stopping by/calling over 20 places within a 50 mile radius, I found none. Never had a Glock or a S&W before, got tired of searching, and bought the M&P45. I like it, looks good, feels right in the hand, haven't got to shoot it yet. So, those of you that own the Smith & Wesson M&P 45, you like it? Had any problems? Thanks much.

I have had mine about a year . It has become one of my favorite pistols . There have not been any issues with it to date .

I have the 45c and like it, but the trigger is gritty and stiff. I have an Apex kit coming to fix that, but it should have been done at the factory. I feel that the M&P series is what Glock should have been all along.

Congrats on the new 45. Don't be discouraged with the trigger, it gets better with time. I'll bet you are going to like the pistol a lot.

I think you are better off as the M&P 45 has a MUCH more comfortable grip than the Glock 21, even in the SF or the Gen 4 model.

You will find it very comfortable to shoot. It will work reliably with monotonous regularity. :)

Thanks for the replies everyone! Great forum here from what I've seen, I like it. I live in Missouri, the gun market and ammo sales is crazy, all places one goes to, higher prices & shortage of various gun models and ammo. Never thought I'd see the day for $60 or more for a brick of .22 long rifle....geesh! For now I have a nylon type leg holster and a belt holster from other guns, looking at maybe a Desanti leather belt holster, the one with slots so can be worn straight up or canted forward. Just thoughts for now though, what do you all prefer as far a a comfortable conceal and carry holster? I have my CCW but usually just carry a Ruger LCP (.380) with Crimson Trace in a pocket holster, or have in the past anyway.

Mine comes tomorrow, but I also have the 9mm and 22 which led to my 45 purchase. IMHO, you will be much more happy with the M&P over the Glock, they just feel better, and so far mine have been as reliable as anything I have ever owned. I was a long time Sig guy, but really like the way the M&P's handle.

I have a glock 27 and an m&p40c. The 40c is much more comfortable to hold and handles recoil better. I also have a 45c and love it. I was looking at a glock 30 but its a very wide gun.

I have the apex duty/carry kit and it makes a world of difference

Just got back from the one son's home that's in the country, shot a magazine through the new M&P45, LOVE IT thus far. I have some health issues, 59 and shakey as Don Knotts, but did fairly well at about 25 to 30 ft. I'd guess. Probably could save my life f I needed to. Gun performed flawlessly, it's gonna be a keeper I think.

(yeah, it's a ten cap. mag., one shot was way off the circle yet on the paper before the pic was cropped)

I sold my Glock 21 and bought the M&P 45. Love Boat ever since;)

I looked locally at holsters, didn't find a leather one like I wanted that was wore on a belt and could be canted forward. So, I ordered this one today off the S & W website store:

It's made by Desanti, but also has the M & P logo stamped in the leather.

That is good shooting at 10 yards considering a new gun. It will only get better with time.

Thanks Rastoff. I was satisfied, considering all I had done was to clean it right after I bought it. I was shooting Blazer Brass solid points (hard ball), also shot a Hormandy Hollow Point at a milk jug full of water, made me feel like I was making a youtube video, lol.

I have one of the earlier models. Slide has a tendency to rust (yes, I know S&W will replace it for free, but it is my primary duty carry), but I use a light brush of the Royal Purple Maxfilm, at least once a month. Not a speck of rust. I wish I could figure out how to post pictures, the finish wear has given it it's own unique character. It's been swimming, mudding, fishing and hunting. Probably close to 5000 rounds without missing a beat. I have no doubt that it will go bang when it needs to.

I purchased my M&P .45 4.5in with thumb safety last night. I am so freaking excited lol. I feel like a little kid on Christmas morning. I have owned several different glocks and one other S&W .40. I can't wait to shoot it! I really liked my glocks but I didn't like not having a safety on the glock. I also take my CCDW course first week of April! Suspense is eating me alive lol

I own a FS 9 and also the Shield in both 9 and 40. I'm debating to get either the 45 or 45c as my next gun
