went to my local dealer last night looking to pick up an SD9 and ended up leaving with a used M&P9 for the same price ($399). i was pretty excited about the situation because i hear good things about how much nicer the M&P's trigger is so that was a plus and it is a used gun but its pretty much brand new, the last owner was very good to it!:D im new to the forum and handguns (hence the username!) so any input or tips would be appreciated. Welcome aboard and congrats on your M&P purchase. They are great guns for a veriaty of aplications. Enjoy yourself and if you have any questions don't hesitate to ask....

So you're new to hand guns? I've got a video for you to check out.

First of all: Proper handgun grip (As per the guys at Magpul)
YouTube - Travis Haley on Handgun Grip

Also, remember the four rules:
1.) All guns are always loaded.
2.) Never let the muzzle cover anything you are not willing to destroy.
3.) Keep your finger off the trigger until your sights are on the target.
4.) Be sure of your target and what is beyond it.

Now go take that thing out to the range and have some safe fun with it! Congrats on your purchase. :D

Thanks for the heads up on the grip video roymond, im pretty sure that when i've been to the range my grip wasnt how travis showed, but im definitly gonna try that out in the morning when i hit the range for the first time with the M&P:D

In addition to what Roymond said...never put your finger into the trigger guard until you are ready to shoot. (yes, it was covered in #3 of the post, but I worded it a bit differently)

Congrats on a fine purchase and enjoy it. Just don't forget to get a cleaning kit to make sure you take care of your great purchase. :D

oh and i do like it... put 200 rounds through it on sat and loved every pull of the trigger. i did remember to pick up a cleaning kit R1, cleaned it before and after the range (watched a vid on youtube :D)
