New M&Ps get three free magazines

I just spoke with smith and unfortunately someone in their legal dept. Uncovered a law wich states that to receive any magazines it must be through an ffl and show my licence in MA....weird cuz I bought Wilson combat MAGS last month and received them via USPS. SMITH should give MA residents something else in return...night sights ??? Sorry for the rant, i just disappointed

I'd like to see that law.... I think someone is FofS

I have been planning on getting the Shield as my CC weapon, however this '3 free magazines' promotion has really muddied the waters for me. So much so, that I was considering the 9c instead of the Shield for CC - just to get the freebies. The 9c does feel better in my hand than the Shield, too. But, I believe I am going to stick with the Shield as the right tool for that specific job and hope that through some twist of fate S&W runs a similar promotion when I decide to get a FS.

I was excited by the offer until I got this message:

Error:The firearm model is not eligible for this promotion in your city or state

The fine print says that if you are in Illinois that you can only get 10 round magazines and not the 17 round magazine. I resubmitted for the 10 round magazines.

Hahaha...you didn't really expect to successfully circumvent your states max mag capacity law via the promotion...did you?

Ok, ok...I'll admit it crossed my mind last year with the 2 free offer, but I didn't actually try and submit for the 17's like you did

Actually, Illinois does not have a capacity limit which is why being limited to 10 round mags was confusing.

Well there are limitations in Cook County, Aurora, Oak Park and Chicago...

I think it would be difficult for S&W to "weed out" those ineligible areas by zip codes
-and-
Unlawful cheating might also become prevalent

I totally forgot about Cook County. That likely explains it but I would say that it would be quite easy for S&W to just note the affected zip codes.

Because i am a firm believer in helping a company move inventory lol; i caved in to the peer pressure to add to my small but growing collection and bought a fs9 today. Call it a planned impulse purchase that 3 mags kinda swayed my final decision.

45c

Just pickup a 45c on Friday couldn't pass up the deal on the Magazine offer, just wish they would send an Email conformation when filling out the rebate form online. Still no rounds fired yet, first 45 that isn't a 1911.:D

has anyone received any mags yet?

Not likely. They ask for 8-10 weeks for processing and, based on the last free magazine offer, it takes about 10 weeks to receive them. This rebate period started at the end of March, so folks are probably looking at late May or early June at the earliest.

I tried the web page form yesterday and it was telling me that my piece was not qualified (M&P 9mm Ported 5") - Called S&W customer support and they said that my gun did qualify, but they don't manage the web site so...just send in the form.

Did so yesterday - pretty good deal!

best

I caught a LGS sale and bought a fs9. So, a total of six (NYS compliant 10 round) mags, gun, case and candy out the door for 507 bucks. I couldn't pass it up.

I think this will be a somewhat dedicated range gun, so I'm looking at the Burris Fastfire III and mount. Thus far, I'm happy with the latest trigger and overall, the gun has been flawless.

guess if nothing else, i can use that 8-10 week period to build up some add'l ammo stock.... as what good are all those mags if i dont bother filling them up and using them at the range?

i think i better put some reloading equipment on my next list to Santa lol

;)

It's all BS from my perspective.... I live in Ma, 10 minutes from S&W.... I have now purchased 3 more M&P's in the last month.... ask me how many magazines I get..... ZERO.... cause if you live in Ma, we are not eligible for the free mags!!!

I wonder if S&W Marketing has any clue how much this unfairness is ticking off their loyal customers in MA & CT. They lost me with last year's promotion when I substituted an HK45 for a planned M&P45 FS buy. Now, they are losing my business again this year with the cancellation of a planned M&P9 Range Kit buy. Funny how us homeboys don't matter. I guess they take our loyalty for granted. It's a damn shame.

Total BS. No such law. More likely, S&W is just trying to keep the MA AG's office happy.

Exactly right. Even if there were such a dumb law, why no substitute deal to keep their loyal MA & CT customers happy? Such amazing indifference just cannot be explained.
