Hi, all. I joined the forum a few weeks ago, but never made a "new member" post. I live in the metro Atlanta area, and bought my first Smith and Wesson (a 6-inch 686 Plus Deluxe) in February of this year (not because of anything going on politically - I determined last year I would get more involved in the shooting sport in 2020).
I bought my first handgun new in 1974 (a Harrington and Richardson Sportsman 999 -- 9-shot .22 blued DA revolver with a 6" barrel), which I still have in mint condition. I also have a Ted Williams .22 semi-auto rifle (same as a Winchester 190) I bought new when I worked at Sears in high school, and war-used Enfield No.1 MkIII in .303 British I inherited from my father. I've fired them many times over the years, but was never an avid shooter. Decided to get more involved when I heard Colt was re-introducing the Python. Went to the local gun store in January, and of course they had none for sale. The owner suggested a S&W 686 instead (at half the price no less). After a little research, I decided the Smith was indeed a better choice so I went back and had them order a 6-inch Plus Deluxe model for me. I also had them order me a stainless Dan Wesson 1911 in .45 ACP.
I picked a bad time to get more involved in the sport. We all know what happened to ammo cost and availability recently, so I've only been able put about 150 rounds through the 686 (combination of .38 Special and .357 Magnum).
You all know what they look like, but here's mine anyway. Thanks and good shooting!
