Greetings everyone. My name is Rick and I am a gun-o-holic. I am retired after spending 24 years in the Navy and 10 years as a Special Agent for Federal Investigative Services (background investigations).
I am NOT one of those guys who is retired and complains about being bored and not having anything to do. I stay very busy having just built a new house and enjoying my hobbies some of which are shooting, reloading, playing guitar and riding my Harleys. I viewed working as something that was necessary but it got in the way of what I wanted to do which was the above listed hobbies.
I have always liked revolvers and bought my first one in 1997 which was a Rossi Cyclops, stainless 6", 357 mag. I still have it and just put some rounds through it today. After that came two Ruger GP-100s, 4" and 6", both blued and a Ruger SP-101 in 357 mag 2" barrel.
My primary interest over the past few years has been semi-automatic handguns but since that itch has been pretty much taken care of (for now), my focus has shifted back to revolvers.
I have been looking at Colt and S&W, my brother is a big collector of the Colt Snake guns and has a huge amount of money invested in them. However, to be honest, for some reason they do not really appeal to me and I think their prices are way too inflated.
In the past year I have picked up a 586, 686+, both 6" and a 629 5.5 ?". All of my S&W are new and are not recessed, pinned and have the lock. I am fine with that and was very pleased with the prices I paid for them.
I have been lurking on this forum for a long time and it appears to be a friendly place with very knowledgeable members. I have learned a lot about Smith and Wesson Revolvers and I plan to be a courteous, respectful member and not a trouble maker:D
