I just put a new 908 stainless on lay away, I was not looking to buy a 3rd generation semi S&W ( I have a 9 and 40 M&P FS) pistol but when I saw it online I had to have it.

I have always been curious about the S&W single stack autos. I am anxious to hear from you S&W single stack fans about this pistol. I read how popular the 3913 is and im curious as to how the 908 stacks up to the 3913?

Look forward to hearing your views

They are both excellent handguns with a huge fan base. The 908 is the "value" version but is every bit as capable of the 3913 original. I am sure you will happy with it's performance.

The single stacks are great guns. I have a 3913 and a 457S. They are excellent carry guns. Just the right size to be handy, not too big and not too small. They conceal very well. I think you will be happy with your 908S.

I also just purchased a 908S for $445.00 and I am very happy with the pistol. I traded my Sigma in for it at a gun show. I like smaller size, all metal frame and thinner grip. Plus I think it looks cool!

The frames are slightly different. 908 slide is not rounded off, but flat on top and angled on the sides. 908 mag disconnect, guide rod, and sights are plastic. The 908 sights are different from the 3913 sights and do not interchange. The mags do interchange.

To bad about that :(

Of course, ALL Glocks have plastic guide rods, and plastic sights, unless there are night sights on the gun.

It's nice that the mags interchange: it also means the 3913 and 3914 owners will have access to new magazines for that many more years :)

But, it's still 'basically' a 3913, and at the price of a used 3913...

Does it not have a 'lifetime warranty', because it doesn't have the 4 digit serial number?

I have some guns that came to me used, so this certainly isn't a 'deal breaker' for me; I'm just curious.

Well, I had two of them but my brother recently got the one on the right from me, however it is in good hands.

I thought all 3rd generation guns had the lifetime warranty?

S&W made several guns under the "value package" banner. The 908 is one of those. The only complaint I have is the finish is rather thin and easily worn.

One thing I like about the 908 v the 3913 is the single side safety. I have no need for the ambi feature and it makes the gun just a tad thicker.

I have a 908S. They are great little pistols, the slim profile makes them an excellent choice for a concealed carry pistol. Like another member mentioned I prefer their single side safety/decocker over the 3913s ambi safety/decocker. The 908 does not have a very harsh recoil but I do prefer the extended mag baseplates. The accuracy and reliability is also very good. Overall I think they are very good pistols for the money and though the lack some of the nice features of the 3913 they are still quality pistols.

I mine originally came with a stainiless slide but I picked up an extra upper (slide/barrel/guiderod) on Gunbroker for $70.00 so mine has been sporting a blued slide for a reverse two tone look.

Very nice stickman! My old 908 was actually a factory two tone that looked exactly like yours. :) That pic made me regret selling it. :(
