S&W is weird with sending parts that require detail stripping the gun. You might get them to send it, but probably not. Try Brownells, Midway, Numrich, etc.

Thanks Rastoff Its good to have options. I'm not 100% sure I want to dig in my new gun. Even for a fee its hard to believe SW won't change it out. Its not broken I get it but by changing out a not broken part SW acknowledges they sold a gun with a *** slide release. So in the interest of good CS they should offer to at least replace it with the Improved slide release even if I pay for their part at cost. I'm not gona hold my breath. Rather I'll start looking for how to replace a slide stop videos. LOL

This is just speculation on my part, but I think they don't have time.

S&W has sold over 1M M&P Shields. In all that, they've still produced a lot of other guns. That's a lot of manufacturing. There has been some quality control issues with the M&P line. Nothing catastrophic, but we've seen some weird problems on this board.

So, I think they would do the swap, but are too busy keeping up with production and minor fixes.

All that is just my opinion.


If you do want to change the slide stop, it's easy and is the best way to improve reset. If you need help, I'll be more than happy to take pictures of the process and help you along.
