I want to get a new no lock model 19 classic. Do you think it’s safe enough to order one or should I wait until they hit the shelves and are kept in stock so that I can inspect it before buying? I’m worried about the bluing, rust, scratches, etc. in light of quality control issues. I don’t want to order one and then have problems with it. But I really want one … like yesterday. Ha.

Do you think will stop making the no lock classics? Like is this a special run or are they here to stay?

I was in a shop yesterday that had promotional stuff on display. When I asked the clerk if they had received a 36 or 19 yet. He said they are on Lipsey's web site, but they are not shipping yet. I'm going to wait for feedback and prices to drop below MSRP.

Order it.

It’ll be one of the first run.

(It’s funny how guys say the new Python isn’t really a Python, but the new 19, which to me has at least as many changes as the Python, is still a 19, no questions asked)

They are shipping. Well, at least the 36-11 shipped.

I will believe Smith has gone to "no lock" when the frame configuration from rear sight to top of the grip has gone back to"pre-lock normal" on the J, K and L frames. As much as I like the little J frame pictured, I'll wait and see.

That is the 97-01 pre-lock configuration.

order one up. if it is not how it should be, Smith will make it right under warranty. IF that were to happen, you would probably have the gun back sooner than if you waited and bought one once they are stocked.

Local shop has 3 in stock @ $995.

Judging by the remarks made by SW, the lock is going away.

Also, the Lipsey's mountain gun is not a limited run either.

Best thing is to find a clean older gun with a firing pin on the hammer and a pinned barrel. QC is lacking at S&W right now.
