New owner of S&W M&P 40

I'm a big fan of the M&P. I've got the .40 in the full-size and the compact and love them both. The full-size simply feels better in my hand than any pistol I've ever held, consequently I shoot it better. I haven't put thousands of rounds through mine (more like a couple of hundred through each one) and have yet to have a single issue.

Price-wise, especially considering the ammo, I think you did fine. I paid $549 + tax for each of mine but that was on sale. Average prices I see around here are $579-$599

I agree that you have a great deal with the ammo. Makes the cost closer to $500.

I also have a M&P40 and I love it. I bought it used on Gun Broker and paid $400 for it. It looked like it had only been fired a few times. It only came with 1 - 10 round mag but I quickly remedied that by purchasing 2 - 15 round mags from Midway USA. I have probably put about 400 rounds down range with not one problem. It fits my hand well, fires well (accurate too) and the price was right. Good luck with yours!

Thanks all for the kind words and leads to other sites and more info on the pistol. I stated I paid $575+7% tax is this a fair price or did I get hosed?

The standard M&P 40 FS is pretty easy to find around central Ohio for 499.99. I got mine when they first came out for 399.99. I just bought FS MP 45 for 549.99 with an extra mag. However that does not mean you got the hose, things sell for varying prices around the country you just have to pay the going rate according to demand I guess (look at gasoline prices). You just gota do what ya gota do to get what you want.

I have never been more pleased w/a handgun purchase than I have the M&P 40C. Once you and the gun have become one, so to speak, all of your concerns as far as negatives will disappear.
Enjoy your piece.
