Really like the look, feel and action of the rifle, it surpassed all my expectations and I'm a very happy man....However here I sit in the UK and am at a loss to find a part that I really want to mod. I have the 'plinker tactical' handle and latch, the lightened JP trigger spring kit...I managed to stop the minute wobble on my MOE stock with Velcro and duct tape (haha), AFG, BSA stealth tactical scope (cheap but I'm on a limited budget, rail covers....but the part that I covert the most....A bolt release....I know of the SBR (speed bolt release) from NDZ performance, but they do not ship internationally (some US law) so its between the Magpul Bad lever and the Troy Bolt release. As I understand it the Magpul needs 'bending' and makes the last round bolt open feature not work. Is it the same for the Troy....anyone using either of these two parts? which works best with the least tweaking? I know of two sites that sell them in the UK but don't want to fork out money on a part that may not function....any help or ideas from anyone with experience of either will be much appreciated....thanks troops.

Hi and welcome to the madness!

I started this mad route to bankruptcy end of Jan this year, almost there, but then there are new things coming out all the time. So do we ever get "there" ?

I have seen some of the other variants out there but must say I really like the SBR by NDZ in FDE, and they work really really well. :D

And the bonus is they clip straight on and are GTG !!!

I am sure there is a way to get one, you just haven't found it yet. ;).

Post some pics and let's see that bad boy!!!!

Thanks Fellows,
Good to know I'm not alone out there, lots of the 'old timers' at the range shudder when the semi-auto comes out...as magazine after magazine empties leaving a mountain of brass at my feet :) Lol I think Annie (my Anschutz) is getting very jealous. Oh by the way what on earth do they use to stick that flash hider on with.....dried on Weetabix? Any of you guys attached a new grip? Oooo and how about 45 angled flip up iron sights? arrrghhhh too many questions...too many add-ons....too little time and money. Will post pics as soon as I can persuade the better half to get her Canon out...(ooo err missus)....oh and York...so not that far north ;)

Welcome to the fold, GM :)

I went for the Magpul BAD as I got my Smith quite a while ago, before the other bespoke 15-22 levers came out. A bit of heat (the missus's kitchen blowtorch!) and a bend in the vice and it works fine.

Flash hider: yes, they feel like they're spot-welded on!
Word of warning - DON'T try to remove the flash hider without a decent set of barrel vice jaws; trying to grip the rifle by the receiver will only result in cracking it somewhere

Loads of great info here on the forum - dig in and have fun!

York... I do all my long range .308 shooting up that way (MOD Strensall) ;)

Welcome to the forum! I believe what shocks me is that an ordinary person can buy a semi-auto 22 rifle of any kind in Britain.

I was under the belief that all handguns were now outlawed, banned and subject to confiscation. I also thought that semi-auto rifles and shotguns were also outlawed.

I am glad you are able to own the rifle.

Thanks for the warm welcomes,
@Shawn McCarver...as long as you can justify your reasons for owning a firearm ie hunting/sport and have people testify to your sanity to own them, then you are allowed to own up to 5 guns of varying calibres. You have to go through lots of red tape and police approval (which is how it should be). What amazes me is that I can walk into any 'air rifle' shop and buy a crossbow or an air rifle/pistol pellet or steel BB, with no more than proof of age (18+) Strange....especially when 'airsoft' stuff has to be all fluorescent and orange tipped. Yet these 'less dangerous' air weapons have no such restrictions. However with your real firearms you have to specify, exactly what is on your weapon sound mod/optics etc and are limited to a certain amount of ammo to hold. We are not completely banned yet :)

No 5 gun limit here - I have 9 on my FAC :)

As GM said, in the UK it's all about being a sound individual, demonstrating good reason, and keeping the pieces (& ammo) secure!

Welcome GhostMutt , thats interesting & how is the illegal gun violence there ? Here close to a big city morning news is like a clearing house of the shooting the night before :(

Thank you for setting me straight! I appreciate the info. Fascinating.

I'm going to guess that "self defense" or "home protection" would not be "good reason" in the UK. Is "target shooting" a good reason?

Are there public lands that one can hunt on there?

Do you have to belong to a gun club in order to own a gun?

I love UK! I once went through London Hethrow airport. It's so fancy!

Anyway, good job! It's a nice rifle!

Hi
Not everything banned here. Just most things. :D

Can't do pistols as a rule or any centre fire rifle with gas fed piston type action AR15 or the like. Shotgun is ok for semi auto (3shot mag) for normal use or more if on firearms certificate.

Can have bolt action type centre fire if you can satisfy the local dept reqs for mental stability etc AND justify the need for it.

The tendency here is on application for a 22 to just stipulate rifle. That way you can have either bolt or semi. This is possible only because they work on blowback and not gas or piston. If that clarifies it somewhat.
Mark.

Gun crime is virtually unheard of...it does happen in major cities and once in a while there is a high profile crime involving guns but they are very rare. Although in 2011 a White Siberian tiger caused a scare by reclining in a field...numerous people called the police who dispatch an armed unit and helicopter...they called a local zoo who said it would be better to tranquilize the animal rather than destroy it...police officers on the ground surrounded the field and stalked the big cat...the helicopter hovered above...the tiger remained motionless...upon stalking closer and closer but daring not to venture any closer officers, could not discern whether the big cat was real....when the helicopter reported that the thermal image sensor was showing no heat source and as it descended over the tiger, which blew away in the downdraft, did they realise that the tiger was a stuffed toy. England is so rife with those pesky tigers ;)

Home protection would have your application denied before the firearms officer even came to visit you to check your storage arrangements and character!...Vermin control/hunting/target shooting are valid reasons and are usually the only reasons. I think you have to belong to a club and have to have permission to shoot on land, generally farmland. My wife and I both shoot and have to regularly attend the range...with her being pregnant she has not been for a year which we had to notify the firearms officer about. You have to have valid reason to own and prove you use them on a regular basis...as is my understanding :)
