My 15-22 came back today from S&W with new blue spring and "updated". However I sent them 2 magazines, one original and one purchased from them. They sent back one of my originals and one new series (22 LR -25 rounds), When I inquired why they did not replace both, here is the reply I got.

"The old series mags still work with the firearms. As a courtesy they replace 1 mag always but the old mags do function with the gun."

Has anyone else only had one magazine replaced?

Hmmm, wonder if they are trying to mitigate a major magazine shortage?

Do you have to send the magazines with the rifle? I'm about to send mine in whenever I get the shipping label, but I wasn't sure if I should send the mags or not. I have three, two of them I bought from 44mag.com. Will they only replace one of them or what? Or will they send a new magazine if I don't send any mags with the rifle?

All six (6) of my "old" magazines work fine. I send none with the weapon back in December and got two (2) "old" magazines back.

Oh so they will just send you a new magazine when they fix the rifle? That'd be sweet to get another one. I don't think I'm going to send any of mine with the rifle, they work fine for me.

When I sent mine back for repairs on the 8th of March I sent them an old stlye magazine. I even mentioned in the letter to them I would appreciate a couple newer version mags. When my rifle came back it only had one magazine and it was the newer version. So they only swapped mine out with a new one. No extras were sent:(

In the instructions that came with the Fed Ex Label
It specifally said to send your magazine in if your going is goin in for FTF and FTE's

I just sent in my two old style mags today. They consistently jam with any ammo. I have one newer style mag that _never_ jams. The cs rep told me they would swap them out. I included a note asking for a free mag for my trouble. As long as I get two new functioning mags, I'll be happy.

I guess I ruined it for everyone else. I sent in 5 old style magazines with my rifle and asked them to update the rifle and magazines. They sent me 5 of the new style magazines back. They must of just changed this policy since it hasn't been more than 2 weeks since I got my rifle and new style magazines back.

When I read all these post about the old vs new magazines and 15-22's jaming I keep wondering when my problems are going to start. I have had my rifle about 4 months, have two old style and two new style clips, have fired over a thousand rounds consisting of 5 different brands, both regular and hollow point and even some shells that were 10+ years old and have had only a couple of jams. Slow fire and rapid fire does not seem to make any difference it just keeps working. My friend was having some problems and when I showed him how I load my magazines his problems went away. I am extremely happy with my 15-22 and have recommended it to several people. It would be nice to know why some people are having problems.

I sent mine back a couple of months ago because of a concern with the bolt guide rail ends. It fed with no problems, so I did not send a magazine with it. It came back with the original concern repaired, new blue springs and a new type magazine. After shooting both types of magazines (3 old, 1 new), I can see no diference in operation, if you screw up loading the new one, it will malfunction also.

Got mine back yesterday with all blie springs & 4 mags replaced.

Mags have 10rd printed on them now.

I got a new replacement mag back when I sent my old one in with my rifle, but no freebies that others here have enjoyed. I didn't ask for any in my letter, but I did mention that this weapon was purchased so I could become familiar with the AR platform and eventually I would be buying a "big boy" AR in the future. I thought they would have tried to woo a potential repeat customer a little more, but no. Not even a sweet nothing in my ear.;)
(btw I didn't actually say "big boy AR" in my letter, maybe I should have)
