I bought two, and am eagerly awaiting the 442s. I'll be in real trouble if they start making no lock N frames.

Does anybody know how they are getting around the agreement they signed with the Fed to make no lock revolvers again.

Simple, OldSchool63, there never was a legally enforceable agreement between Smith and the government. The "agreement" simply was a statement of principle that Smith was free to ignore, revise, or abandon any time it wanted to. These past few years they've put locks in their revolvers as a business and p.r. decision but not because anyone made them do it.

I have one, great gun so far. I am going to ship it to Gemini Custom to get it tuned and ported, should make it just about perfect! The stories I heard was S&W found about 500 old frames so made these up the old fashioned way with screw in barrels.

Man if they only would put out a couple of 3" revolvers and a PC gun or two there would be some happy people. For that matter, how about a 617 4" barrel no lock? I have been looking for a pre-lock model for quite a while now with no luck. Sure would be nice to hit the local dealer and just order a new one. Not to mention it would help business all around.I am remaining steadfast on the fact that I will never own a IL S&W ever.

the fact that its on the web site sure seems to me like its not all that much of a limited run or whatever story there is......seems like they are just going to make them...and would bet others(than already seen)

+1 The PC 625 is my idea of an ideal holster gun, but as long as it has a hole in the side, I won't be ordering one.

I agree. I have let so many PC guns go by that I would have loved, but could not get past the lock. The PC guns I do have of course are all pre lock. I love my 3" 625 pre lock though it is not a PC gun. If they start making the PC guns with no lock, I could be in trouble as there are a number of them I really want.

I'd like to see the IL gone and am hopeful the introduction of revolvers without it is a gradual and deliberate move away from the lock. But, this is a DA only revolver, hasn't Smith previously issued DA only revolvers without the IL?
On the other hand, has their website previously posted the "No Internal Lock" copy so prominently?

All you guys want a Centennial with no IL, don't forget the Model 40-1. I've pushed this gun so much on here, S&W ought to give me a blued one to go with my nickel one, but it really is one of the best deals they have. If you don't absolutely have to have an Airweight, they are awesome.

How do you like the grip safety on the 40? Some seem okay with it and others find it a pain and want to disable. I know a lot of old ones were disabled. I never shot one.
