I have a 986 with a lock, and I have never had any problem with it. Why is anyone wanting to remove them?
Do they just kinda sit in there or do they snap in somehow?

Some people don't like the look. Some don't like the fact that S&W gave in to the Clinton administration back when these were put in place. And some don't like it for practical reasons. Generally the more mechanical things you add and the more complex it is the higher the chance of failure. There have been people who had mechanical issues with the lock. It's happened when the lock froze during shooting rendering the gun useless.I have a 986 with a lock, and I have never had any problem with it. Why is anyone wanting to remove them?
