I've seen this in another forum, is it true? Has anyone got a new S&W without IL other than the J frames?

Yes, S&W has a couple of models that you can get without a lock.

That particular email from CDNN could best be described as "pre-lock" S&W guns. CDNN gets a lot of trade-ins and those are likely used (but still good) firearms.

Thanks Jim

Nothing wrong with these fine "pre-IL" models, I just misundertood the ad. I was hoping for newly made, NIB revolvers (other than J frames) without IL.

Hopefully soon...

Talked to S&W today and the customer rep told me that they most likely will be making the lock optional in the future. She said they have received so many complaints that they are going to sell the future guns (next year I assume) with the lock as an optional purchase item.

We shall see.

She also said they were going to release the Model 19 in the Classic Series along with 4 other models at the Shot Show. Will be interesting to see if these have the lock or not.

FWIW.

Ask him if he wants to bet a brand new 629.

You'll come out with a free one!

(Just send me 10% of the value in biscuits)

I would love to have a new model 629 with or without the IL. Oh well just dreaming.

If S&W does indeed offer guns w/o any IL, the guy making the ones with IL is going to be lonelier than the Maytag Man.

That's no more than anyone's asked for.

I could definitely see a new 3" 24 or 27 for CCW.

Many of the "no lock" guns offered by CDNN are NIB. They buy up quanities from distributors from time to time.

Once they start making serious no-lock fighting handguns on the N-frame, I'll be in tall cotton. And probably in serious trouble with my wife.

I predict the lock guns will go the way of the push-feed Model 70.

Guys,

I asked her three times about the lock, just to make sure I was not hallucinating auditorily. She confirmed to me that, because they have gotten so many complaints, that they were supposed to begin making revolvers with the lock as an optional add-on. I told her that would make a ton of folks on this forum excited and they should anticipate sales to triple if they do.

She also said that there would be four more classics, with the Model 19 being one of them. I told her that if I came without the lock to just put one aside for me!! SCORE. To be honest, when I heard the Model 19 I completely went brain dead as to what the other models were.

She also said they were increasing their Night Guard line ... and I would look for a .327 Mag in that line-up.

I sure hope she was not pulling my leg ... that would have been SO RUDE and CRUEL. But, this is Halloween week. I would have called her bluff if it was April 1st!!

If they come out with any 3 inchers, I'm buying the whole run.

Will these have the huge thick two piece barrels? I love the older models with the slimmer barrel with the small letters etched into them. I thinks the new Smiths look like something Taurus would be putting out.

I understand from people who shoot the new S&Ws that they shoot great. I just don't like their looks, lock or two piece barrel.

I can handle the two piece barrel, so long as it doesn't break off.

Of course if they're so into two piece barrels, why don't they buy Dan Wesson from CZ and start making .357 15VHs again?
