I notice on the S&W website, that there are new rubber grips on the K/L frame revolvers, (apparently just for round butts), and was wondering if these cover the entire grip, including bottom, or just the front, as with the older Hogue?
IMO, a slightly different rubber grip has been long overdue for these guns, even given the many options out there. These new ones look like there is at least a subtle change.

I don't see these for sale, as a separate item yet, on the factory website yet either.

Anyone have any experience with these yet?

I looked through a couple of their 360 degree pics., and they seem to have the old Hogues pictured on the gun there (617). Can't tell which grips are pictured in their overhead view. For the model 64, the grips on the 360 view seem to be the old Butler Creek ones, and the overhead view shows the enclosed backstrap. Will have to check the auction sites, I guess.

I bought a 67 about 1 1/2 yr ago it has the UNCLE MIKES, not not as nice as the new ones for sure.
I noticed the picture of the 67 on the website shows the new grips but on the 360 it looks like it shows the UNCLE MIKES ? I bet it will be a while befor the S&W store shows them.

The new style rubber grips come on the J,K/L and N frames.

They completely cover the grip frame.

I have them on my 686+. A (to me) very handsome grip and feels very good in the hand. They aren't as grippy as Hogues but I had no problems whilst shooting and are quite comfortable.

The rounded grips shown on the website are simply not available, even on new guns. The ones with rounded grips shown on the site (686 2.5 inch, 3 inch, etc) come with square looking ones.

When I called Smith and Wesson to order the grip, I implored the woman that I wanted rounded grips. She was most emphatic they were.

When I opened the package, the square style were laying there.

I had asked at the ordering time why they were not listed in the S&W store. She replied she didn't know.

I suspect it's because they want to get rid of older inventory.

When the rounded style grips become available, I shall get them.

Well I hate to raise a thread from the dead, but was wondering if anyone had a Part Number for these grips? I've tried a few different types on my L Frames and nothing beats the new factory grips that came on my 686+. Someone was kind enough to share the Part Number for the N Frame version (413870000) on another thread, for which I and my 625 thank you - hoping for some similar help here!

I had the part number and spent an hour looking for it.

When I ordered mine, I called S&W and just told them I wanted to buy the new style grips for my 686+.

They knew exactly what I was after.

Puzzling they are still not for sale in their online store.

Thanks, I will give that a try, just don't want to end up with the Hogue grips.

When I called them for a set for my mountain gun the stated the grips were $65.00 plus shipping. i did not order them at that price. Hard to justify $65.00 for a set of rubber grips.

That's odd. When I ordered them for my 625 they charged $37 including shipping...

Can you send me the part number please....It does depend on the people you talk to also. Some know what they are doing and some don't.

Checking my statement, they actually only charged $10.70 total (YMMV) - part # is 413870000.

That was for the N Frame grips. Hoping someone will step up with a PN for the L frame otherwise I'll call tonight and well see.

Jumping in on this subject, I swapped both of my 625s over to the new 629 style grip. It is great, fits my hands perfectly.
Later I ordered a new 617, which is pictured with the same style grip.
The K/L variant is, however, significantly smaller than the N grip.
After trying it out, I installed an Uncle Mike's round to square conversion grip (~$15 in the S&W closeouts) which fits and feels much better to me.

413860000

Finally called and got the part number.

The Factory K/L rubber grips with pebble texture that cover the backstrap and have smaller finger grooves than the hogues are Part # 413860000.

The N frame grips found on new 629s are 413870000.

I would imagine the former would fit on the x Frames too.

Finally will be getting those hogues off my 986...

Posting here for future reference. I'm not a fan of the older mono-grips (the finger grooves just don't fit my hand right - except on my N frame) but these new ones look like they might be nice.

I'm curious too. I just picked up a square butt 64-5 and wouldn't mind replacing the Pac's it came with.
