I'm looking at another .40 ,probably for carry. I've come across a few
that might do the job, but can't make up my mind.
My choices are: Shorty Forty performance center
double stack 4013
4026
4040 PD
Sig 229

I already own a 4046 and enjoy it very much. I can get each of these
within $100.00 of another so price isn't that important. Any great
advantages or disadvantages I need to know about? Thanks in advance.

Added: I'm a big guy so size and weight aren't that important.
What I'm mainly concerned about are known issues and reliability.
I figure I'm pretty safe with S&W and SIG but I'm still fairly new
at this. Thanks again.

I would go with the 4040PD, I picked one up last year for a great price and could not be happier. While I've never been a big fan of the .40 round this weapon changed my mind! Easy to carry, light and one of the most accurate pistols I own. It took the place of my Glock 33 as my goto CCW.

As a carrry weapon the 4040PD, thinest/lightest of the bunch. 4026 will be same size as your 4046. 4013/Shorty-Forty can use your 11rd mags also but like the Sig it will be wider and heavier.

+1 on the 4040PD

+1 on the 4040PD. Since getting a couple of good holsters for it, it's become my number one carry pistol -- light, thin, accurate & reliable. My only complaint is that mine has a couple of spots worn in the bluing from holster wear. I'm thinking about having it black chromed.

I'd go with the 4013. I'm 6'2" and I carry a railless 4053 off duty and it conceals just fine

If you can find one and have no problem spending a bunch of $$ to get it, go with the 4040PD.

With my limited income, I would go with the 4013 TSW non rail also, or an early 4013 which would be close to the 4040PD

To be honest, I recently picked up a M&P 40 full size, which I am impressed with the accuracy and handling, except for the size, too dam big to carry concealed.

Some of my babies that are less than 4" barrels that are perfect for carrying.
