I just got a new S&W 500 2 3/4 inch. I have a few questions.

What grips fit the frame of the .500 should I ever change them? I thought I heard K frame or was it N frame grips would fit but I forget.

Also can you guys recommend a good OWB leather holster for it that can reasonably conceal it sometimes?

Now before you laugh or think Im trolling there is a reason why I will sometimes conceal it. I got access to several hundred acres of land. Lots of wild critters and some big feral hogs. The 500 may be overkill sometimes but its been handy to have. Occasionally I will drive in into town to get stuff and would probably just throw on a vest or loose shirt to cover it up at times. No its not my CCW piece. Im a big guy with big mitts so the 500 isnt anything. I looked at the Galco holster for it. I didnt know Simply Rugged was a good holster choice.

Just appreciate some feedback. Thanks!

Why even try to conceal, just open carry. If you have to, crotch-carry like Thunderwear is a good way to hide a large frame.
IIRC, N frame grips will fit but you will no longer have the sorbathane buffer and some sharper felt recoil will result.
Jim Badger has some nice stocks too, as does Karl Nill (not conceal-friendly though)

well open carry isnt legal here. Concealed only. Like I said i was just trying to find something for the occasional drive into town.

Yea I bet wood grips would be a monster on the 500.

I heard everything is bigger in Texas. So I think if you are big enough to conceal a X frame do it.How does that monster stubby shoot?

Hello Paddy. I shot one of these monsters last year at the range. A guy there was going hunting and bought the 2.75 500 for carrying against bear. He had a box of the biggest hottest load made . 400grain? 500 grain? I don't remember.
He was a big guy and flinched all over the place ,but was determined to shoot the whole box of 20 through the gun to 'test'it.
I got to shoot 5 rounds , and each time the gun ended up completely vertical, pointing straight to heaven.
Holy cats! what a monster.

Any pair of Pachmayr or Hogue grips for a K frame round butt will fit.

I put K round fingergroove combats on my 3.5" 460 and shot it that way. People thought I was crazy. Well , yes I am ,but I just like it that way.

Good luck with your new heater.

Regards , Allen Frame
