New S&W M&P 10MM

I am excited and hopeful to try one out and see where it goes from there. Will probably be a year or two out for me on this one--no rush.

I am happy that Glock basically kept the 10mm alive and well for so many years. I had the Colt Delta Elite when I first started this hobby and it was good, but I heard stories and at the time thought best to let it go.

Seems a lot of the resurgence in popularity is largely due to gun writers (?). Interesting.

My comment about Springfield Armory was somewhat wishful thinking. Who would have thought that they would tool up and produce what appears to be a very high quality clone of the Browning High Power ?

I've never been a fan of 1911 platforms chambered in 10mm nor of the Springfield XD series but maybe the success of their new SA-35 model will encourage them to have a look back at the 3rd Generation S&W autos for inspiration. I'm not sure what kind of patent issues that they may run into though.

I got my hands on one today and was able to put a few rounds through it. Did a brief write up in the MP section of the forum.

I read your review, does this mean that you are rethinking your "Plastic has no soul." signature line?:D
I'm actually excited that S&W is rejoining the 10mm Auto party.

:)

Not at all, but the 2.0 has grown on me in the last few years.

This thread is quite interesting... I love it..

S&W is a company that doesn't make the firearms that many want anymore. I know plastic, two piece barrels, mim parts, etc allow competition on price, but they ought to offer a premium line that sells all steel semis and pinned and recessed revolvers made to a higher price point but with a lot of CNC machining that would save labor and tighten tolerances. Colt kinda did this with the new Python, but they left some hand finishing out that would help the fairly heavy SA pull.

Much like the Big 3 in the 80's.
Didn't care what the customer wanted, didn't care about looks.
Just give them a vehicle that does what every other vehicle on the road does.
S&W could at least put a nice logo on the grips and jazz the slide up.

I don't know . . . Smith recently came out with the best .22LR AR-15. They upgraded the M&P and revamped the Shield. The M&P AR is the best one at the entry level price. Now they have a 10mm. Somebody at Smith is listening .

A blinged up pistol may be what you want but it is not what I want. I wouldn't own a gun like that.

What really hurt the big three back in the 80s was making unreliable cars that emphasized style and flash over function when Japan was making boring but reliable cars you could count on. From the initial reports it doesn't sound like S&W made that mistake.

I will be getting one. And when I do, first thing to go will be those skyscraper high sights cause I have no plans to put glass on it.

No bling.

The M&P looks like the generic picture of a handgun.
LMAO, my M&P 40c is a 1st gen and has been sent back twice to S&W for feeding issues. Seems their first run had bad mags and took them a while to figure that one out.
My Sheild was doa after the frame cracked.
Anything man-made is doomed to fail.
LMAO, bling.
