Congratulations, looks like a great set-up. I'm looking at purchasing a CORE also and am trying to figure out which optic to get. The two that I see most frequently are the Trijicon and Leupold Deltapoint. I'd appreciate it if you'd talk me through why you chose the Trijicon. What are the advantages of the Trijicon from your standpoint. Thanks and good shooting. Dr.J

I have a 40 CORE that now has the Deltapoint 3 MOA dot I started out with the Trijion but it started shutting off while I was shooting. I would rack the slide and it would come back on. After checking the battery connection I got RMA from Amazon and bought the Deltapoint. I like it better so I made out ok.
You are really going to like that gun. Don

40 CORE with Burris Fastfire III. No problems either. They sit a bit higher than some, but can still co-witness. Easily mounts to the CORE, even if it's still not listed by S&W. Around $239

I like the trijicon too and the green dot over the red. For me and my eyes the red dot glows around the edges . I went with the no battery model and very pleased with it .

I have two DeltaPoints (II) that work well on a shotgun and a carbine.

However, I have a Trijicon RMR 06 (Adjustable) on my M&P FS 9 and I can easily see it is more robust and better protected than the Leupolds. The battery lasts well over a year, but I change it yearly on my birthday. I have had no problems with it.

I would try a DeltaPoint Pro when it becomes available for citizens, but until then, the Trijicon is the more robust and dependable optic IMO.

I have two Burris Fastfire II's on other light recoiling range guns. They have also worked fine, but they are difficult to zero, lightweight, and I would not trust them under rough conditions. They are not as well built or protected as the other two brands above. You get what you pay for.

I just put the Eotech red dot on mine and I really like it! I tried the Deltapoints, but the dot seemed very fuzzy and faint. I've always been a fan of the Trijicon RMR's, but wanted to give the Eotech a chance - so far it's working very well.

I liked the RMR and the fact that I could control the dot just wish it would have lasted more then 2 weeks. But then 2 weeks is a lot of shooting and I was shooting Major loads in the 40 CORE. Don

Ok. First up, I need a LOT of practice with the Trijicon RMR. I have never used a red dot in any form and I am not comfortable with their use. I found the dot very very distracting and I kept trying to use the iron sights even when I tried to ignore them.

Any tips for shooting with a handgun Red dot will be appreciated.

But I still kept everything in the "A" zone of a USPSA target at 14 yards, the groups just weren't as tight as my usual or I am just being hard myself again.

The holsters are Blackhawks that I just picked up for USPSA.

Next was is my modified G17 with Buffalo Bore 147 gr +P+ JHP. Finally, I tested my new Magpul Pmags for the Glock 17 (the 4 Glock mags on the right in the above picture) and they performed flawlessly.

Your dots set to high for one thing . Lower your dot so it sits solidly on the iron sights so POI will be closer to the same . Leave the other pistol at home and use only the RMR pistol for a while . Take the sights off !! Then you have to pay attenmtion to the dot . Just joking , sort a . Only way I know to get comfortable with any new firearm is to shoot only the new one for a while .
You do know that with in reason if the dot is up in a corner of the optics window but on target that's were the bullet will still impact and that's what can make a dot optic faster on target when cartridge power levels are the same .

Correct, with a reflex sight, the dot does not need to be in the center of the window. Also, both-eyes-open shooting with a reflex sight is very easy.

Nice groupings. :)

Yes don't work at trying to center the dot as if you have it sighted in in bullet will hit where the dot is. I spent to much time trying to center the dot. I will say my Deltapoint 3 MOA dot sits right on the top of my front sight blade when I align the open sights. It is bast to shoot with two eyes but because I have troubles with my vision and with both I sometimes get two dots or at least a blurry. Don

Just watched the videos, excellent shooting, recoil control, etc. BTW, nice collection of pistols! :)

You see!

I did not know that. I was trying to center the dot and that is what was slowing me down. I am an experienced handgunner but I have never use a red dot even on a rifle, so I am a red dot novice.

With one eye open, the dot will appear to reside on the glass. With both eyes open, the dot will appear to be "on" the target, so you should focus your eyes there rather than on the glass :)

Let us know how you make out next time.

More I didn't know!

Thanks again.

I will be going the range again on the 30th or the 1st; so, I will have an update then.
