$1k is higher than MSRP on S&W's website. Yikes.
That said, I hope to be able to pick one up in the near future. Also saw that they made a M&P 15-22 pistol! Both look like fun.

You can have it a bit more quiet with its little brother.
Even quieter with a can.
Lots of handguns (vs AR/AK pistols) have been selling at or over MSRP for almost a year. But you are paying a premium for the S&W name. NOT saying it isn't worth it though. Just got an e-mail from PSA for pistiol kits WITH decent red dots for under $600 without receiver. I've got Anderson receivers in my safe
My "DPMS AR-10" lower with build kit and stock went from $200, to $300, to $350 in about 4 months. My RIA 10mm 1911 was just over MSRP and I was thrilled that I found it that cheap in stock. Other places were between $100-$150 more.
If you NEED it now, then buy it. But be sure you understand between want and need, and what your threshold is. Is it REALLY a Need, or is it just a want.

I just saw one at my local store for $830 plus tax $1000 is too much!
