Hello just wondering if anyone has had issues with Failure to ejects and the slide not locking back at at. Bought a new sd9ve at academys today and shot around 300 rounds. Before the range i cleaned it and lubed it the same way i do with my SD40VE.

I had roughly 11 FTEs and not once did the slide lock back on either mag. I was shot around 200 winchester 124 grain as well a 100 of remington.

I also felt that it had noticably more recoil than my sd40ve. I know it sounds weird but it felt like a stronger kick.

Even the RSO took a few shots and he also had a FTE and even with him the slide never locked back.

I never had any issues with my SD40 which is why i purchased this one so it wold be cheaper to shoot.

With my sd40 all my shots were close to center. whereas the 9 seemed to be to the left by a good 4-7 inches.
?
Should i put more rounds thru it or contact s&w? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I don't know about all of that, but my SD wouldn't lock open on an empty mag with one of my three magazines. I took the mag apart and the follower seemed to have some extra plastic around the edges. Like molding flash. I sanded it down a bit on the bottom around the sharp edges and it is fine now.

Mine also shot a little to the left but once I drifted the front sight it was dead on.

I hope I helped.

Regarding the slide not locking back. Since its a new gun its most likely not a weak slide lock spring. I am guessing it could be thumb placement on the left side interfering with the slide lock. I had this happen to me on a Sig p239 (that I shot often) after I changed the grips to a thinner G10 grip. When I put the thicker factory rubber grips back on, I was fine. Watch out for that the next time you go to the range.

I hope this helps

Does it lock back without a magazine, pulling
slide open and manually lifting the slide lock?

If slide won't manually lock open, the slide lock
itself if faulty, or angle of notch on slide is wrong
(unlikely).

Take slide off and insert an empty mag. Does
follower on magazine touch the slide lock tab,
and lift it?

If the mag follower fails to lift the
slide lock, either the mag follower is mis-molded
or not rising high enough in mag tube to reach
the tab, or the tab on slide lock is missing/short,
or angled wrong (bent upwards too far).

Function of slide lock spring is easy to check.
Remove slide, manually push slide lock up--
it should snap back down (unlocked position)
when you release it.

Time to call S&W. It sounds to me like a mistake in fitting the internals.

Who has been inside a SW9VE too often, with little improvement.

I've had my SD9VE for a while now, bought some new magazines and went to the range last week Wednesday. Never had any issues with FTEs or FTFs, but not one of my magazines would lock the slide back when empty or after the last round in the magazine was fired. Called S&W and they sent me a label. They said if none of the mags would lock the slide back, it was a gun issue and not a magazine issue. For the record I keep it cleaned and lubed on a weekly basis as this used to be my carry gun.
