I just picked up my new Shield 40 and am taking it apart to clean and lube. Am I correct in my understanding that the slide doesn't lock back after the last shot out of the mag? It's going to be a new toy for me and I haven't got out to shoot it yet. Soon!

If you are taking it apart and the magazine is out, it will not lock back but it will when you re-insert the magazine. Congratulations on the new Shield.

Once u shoot it, u will forget about all the other pistols in ur collection.

I have trouble pulling my 1911's out to shoot them sometimes. Because the Shield is just plain out fun to shoot. There's never a day at the range without it.

All of the replies above are correct. The slide will in fact lock back after the last round in fired. Also if u put an empty mag in, u can pull back the slide and it will lock. Have fun with ur new little beast. Its worth every dollar spent on it.

Congrats on the new Shield. Hope you love your as much as I do mine.

like said, yes it will lock back. to use the slide release will be tough until it gets broke in, at least mine was. but now I can run out, drop the magazine, get another magazine in from a mag pouch, release the slide and fire again in a couple seconds.
