so... range time with the 45 Shield today. 90 rds Federal 230 hb. 0 failures. 8 yds POA/POI is dead on for me. Out of first 50 rds, 45 in the 10 ring at 8 yds of the small red targets on range (4-5" ring). And I was shooting for function and break in, not accuracy. Very happy with all that.

Negatives: Magazines are stiffer than any ever on any firearm I have EVER handled! I had to use one of the range cheater load tools just to get the mags loaded. Near the end, they started to loosen up ever so slightly. A LONG way to go for every day hand loading usability. They are sitting fully loaded and will stay that way!

I shot the short base mag slightly better than the long mag. No surprise, as I shoot a lot of SAA revolvers, and the short grip is very comfortable for me. One handed, L & R, 1-2 mags is the most you really want to shoot. My groups got bigger, but certainly not awful. Prob all but 3 in 8" circle. VERY acceptable for a light compact 45 ACP one handed!

Compared to the XDs 45 I had, the Shield is probably a tad easier to be more accurate with. And the felt recoil is prob a tad less. But at the end of the day, 100 rds ea, you prob would NOT know the diff.

Last, I put it in my son's Alien Gear 9mm Shield holster. Fit fine and would not hesitate to carry it in that.

The Shield 45 is a great gun. Leave the mags loaded for a week and they will loosen. I have an Alien Gear shell that I ill make into an IWB and OWB holster. Fits great! Enjoy!

That was my experience last week when I shot my Shield .45 for the first time...Shot 100 rds, 50 Blazer Brass 230gr RN and 50 Speer 230gr Gold Dot.. It handled all of them without a hiccup.. Accuracy was much better than my Shield 9mm. At 15 yards all my shots went into a 3" bullseye, hitting exactly when the sights pointed... I am very happy and have retired my 9mm to a back-up weapon... And with the S&W Rebates, you cannot beat the deal...

I am absolutely amazed at how well the Shield .45 shoots. The one I'm shooting now was going to be my sons when he graduates from college in June but I kind of took it over and I'll be giving him the new one that I originally ordered for myself. Very comfortable shooter and at 20 meters from a sitting position I have had no trouble keeping all of my rounds in a 3.5" group regardless of the number of shots fired. Yes I realize that's not what it was intended for but I've just been curious as to what it is capable of. It originally was hitting a couple inches to the left but a little work with the sight pusher fixed that. I've got about 300 rounds through it now and so far not a single issue. The mags were tight at first but they loosened up pretty quickly with use. Originally intended to be my sons new CCW since he was forced to sell his shield .40. I had only intended to put about 100 round of mixed ammo through it to make sure it functioned properly before presenting it to my son but I can't stop shooting it so the new one I ordered for myself will go to my son instead (AFTER I make sure it functions correctly). The pistol is very comfortable in my hands with the 6 round mag and I would have preferred two of those instead of the 7 rounder. It seems to love my 200gr hollow point handloads and when shooting them my groups tightened up noticeably. So far this new Shield has proven to be accurate, reliable, and a hell of a lot of fun to shoot. If you're sitting on the fence and not sure if you want to go for it or not I highly recommend you pick one up. Absolutely a great pistol at a great price.

Well, I haven't been here in a long time. I just picked up a 45 Shield from PSA they had them for $349 and with the rebate I had to try one.

So far I've only run 2 mags through it right when I got home. About 10 yards and functioned perfectly. I hope to try out a couple more loads and JHP's later.

Where's the best place to get more 7 round mags?
