New Shield Models

Wouldn't that just be the M&P 9?

Not unless the M&P 9's or Compact 9's got optic cuts recently.

I like this idea, but I'd rather see them put the CORE system on these, and also on a double stack 4" gun.

I'm interested in the base model. I liked the Glock 48 very much when I demo'd it (almost bought one) but decided to give Smith a little time to produce their own long slide single stack. Too bad the LGS had it's "Smith & Wesson Days" a few weeks ago. No 610s and no PC Shields, bummer.

The PC model is $564...the Optics jump it up to $826. I also would be interested in just the base model. But I also have a 3.6" threaded barrel and 10rd mags for my 1.0 Shield...so I don't think there would be much of an advantage. Maybe for someone wanting a PC version.

What are they thinking over at S&W? Where are the CORE and PC M2.0 double stacks? I've been waiting for those. Where are the 3.1" PC Shields without thumb safeties? Why do the 4" PC Shields not have thumb safeties when the others do? Why do these still have a 7-round grip? Why not 8- or 10-round length?

I've been intending to get a 4" compact, but now I don't know which I should get. Or should I just get both?

Unconfirmed info that I read somewhere. 2.0 CORE will be delayed slightly due to some slight dimensional changes to the red dot cut to accommodate more models. Announcement around NRA Show.

Did everybody but me realize the Shield 9 version 1.0 is still a production model?:

M&P(R)9 SHIELD™ | Smith & Wesson

What is S&W's thinking on offering the 1.0 and 2.0 at the same time?

I have the Shield 9 and love it with no plans to replace it, use is CCW. I am considering adding a 2.0 Compact (12 round mag) for home defense.

Comments? Suggestions?

If the cut is longer (can’t be wider or shorter) and will require a mounting plate, the characteristic of the Shield company’s three products to co-witness with standard height iron sights may be lost.

Added to the mistake of supplied multi-colored fiber optic sights, this PC effort might be rather misguided.

If you mean me Univibe, asking about the 10MM, my LEO son has a Shield .40 for a backup gun (dept uses .40 MM Glocks).

I did not enjoy shooting the Shield 10 MM. It had a lot more kick than my Shield 9. It was hard on my hand.

My son is a pro and he shoots it just fine. I am not nearly as good a shooter as he is.

Anyone remember back when the Shield was a concealed carry piece and not a mall ninja fantasy?
The Shield is turning into another Governor - i.e. appeals to the ignorant.

I should've phrased my response better. The post was meant to address the question of where the M2.0 CORE double stacks were. As far as I know, there will be no delay on the release of the 2.0 Shield CORE.

That little thing called in stock inventory still need to sell what was on hand and built before the new unit was released.

That's what I thought as well, all the unsold inventory was just being sold. Let me back up a little.

I saw a Youtube video from a gun vendor who listed his top five selling single stack 9's from just his store. Of course the Shield 9 was top selling, by far. He said specifically the 2.0 versions didn't sell and he only orders the version 1.0 Shield 9's.

That got my curiosity up so I went to the SW website for research. If a Shield 9 (different versions) is out of production it states so in that exact way on the website. When I found the Shield 9 v1 it specifically did NOT say Out of Production. That's why I left a link to the SW website.

I'm not an expert like you guys are, I'm just curious about things related to my own Shield 9. When friends ask me for advice, I'd like to know what I'm talking about.

Here is the Youtube vid that got me thinking:

Interesting as far as I know SW doesnot produce a 10mm shield.

Sorry about my mistake, YOU are right. It's NOT 10 mm, it was .40. My bad.

Everything else I commented on was correct. I can't shoot it because it's too harsh for my hand/skill level.
