New to forum. Just got back from the range after running a box of 50 Winchester 115 brass through my new 9. Great weapon, good size grip. Left eye right on. Right eye a little low and inside due to a life long eye muscle imbalance. I have surgery scheduled in December to correct. Will be interesting to "see" the difference post op.

Welcome to the forum. The shield is a great pistol, as I'm sure you are finding out.

Thanks. I can already see this is going to be another "equipment expensive" sport. Safes, licenses, NRA Lifetime membership, range gear, etc. In order to lower the dollar cost average, I need to spread out some of the non-recurring costs over more hardware. ;)

For your NRA membership, look under the guns for sale or trade section on this forum and you will find a thread titled Discounted NRA Memberships And Renewals.

Welcome to the gun addiction. It starts out slow. When you look up you got a safe full of noise makers and looking for a bigger safe just to fill it up again. Welcome to the forum and safe shooting.

My Shield 9 has become my EDC. S&W knocked out of the park with this one. AND A LIFETIME WARRANTY?

AWESOME!

I already picked up the UPULA loader and a couple extra 8 rd mags.

I was on the fence between a G19 and a Shield until I read a recent comparison in G&A(?).

Any good recommendations on a IWB holster?

Remora has a variety of iwb holster options.

Welcome to the forum and congratulations on getting the Shield. In my opinion, you can't really do better for a moderately small yet full power concealed carry gun.

The Galco King Tuck, Crossbreed, Alien Gear, Foxx, style IWB holsters that are pretty wide, thus moving the belt hooks off the gun seem to conceal a bit better than those with a clip that adds thickness where you don't need any more. However, don't overlook the possibilities of On Waist Band holsters.

I have never managed to figure out how to tuck a shirt in over a IWB gun/holster without leaving a big tell-tale bulge or the shirt so loose it looks sloppier than just leaving it un-tucked. A fairly high riding OWB pancake style holster leaves less "bulge" than most IWB holsters and only hangs below the belt an inch or so with the Shield's short barrel. A shirt cut to be worn un-tucked will cover it if cut fairly loose around the hips.

I've just ordered myself a shoulder holster for the upcoming cooler months. We'll see how that works out.

Welcome to the forum.

A lot of good folks here and a ton of good information.

The Shield is my favorite pistol.

Shield 40 Holster Response

Picked up a Shield 40 in February. Main holster is Crossbreed Supertuck with dual mag carrier for weak side. That being said, I also use a Sticky Holster for quick trips around town if I'm wearing something that doesn't involve a belt. Next on the list is an Armordillo IWB which is somewhere between the Supertuck & the Sticky. Good luck.

How do you like your Sticky Holster?
What gun(s) do you use it with?
Do you think it would work well with sweat pants style pants (no belt, elastic, draw string pants)?

SIG P320C 9mm vs Glock 19 Gen 4

I was on the fence between a G19 and a Shield until I read a recent comparison in G&A(?).

The Shield is a great gun! I own a Shield 40 and love it.

But I subsequently discovered that while it is a great carry gun, there may be other choices that are better for home defense. So I began looking for another gun to add to my Shield.

I was initially going to buy a Glock 19 Gen 4, when I discovered the Sig P320 Compact 9mm. My research convinced me it is a far superior gun to the Glock, and I have just purchased a P320.

Here's a few resources that I found very helpful:

1. Introducing the P320 Product Page & Video
2. Seriously considering P320s to replace my G19 & G26 (GlockTalk forum)
3. Sig p320 vs glock 19 YouTube Videos
