New Shield

CT is an open carry state which I find a little strange since it is such an anti-anything to do with guns, hunting and freedom. So an owb is not an issue.

Perry makes good suspenders. Since mine are covered by my cover shirt I replaced the snaps with small carabiners that fasten to the pants belt loops. No more having them come unsnapped .

Ended up getting done perry style suspenders at Cabelas. They have proven very worthy of the job. No more pants falling down. Still waiting on my Hanks CCW belt. Should be here tomorrow.

I have a Shleld 9mm and shoot it often. I'm right-handed; however, my dominant eye is the left one. I don't seem to have the low-left problem; perhaps that's why? Anyway, I like the Shield better than my Glock 26 that I carried off duty. It's narrower, lighter, and conceals better IMO. I've ordered an OWB Predator from Wright Leather works some time ago. It should be on my doorstep in April. I would add a link but don't know how but it's easy enough to Google.

So I got my Shield Friday night, bought some 115 blazer brass target ammo and got to the range today. The gun performed flawlessly, it ate and spit out all one hundred rounds. I really like this gun and when I do my part it is accurate.

I am happy with this since it is only the fourth time shooting a handgun and the second time shooting the Shield. Need to work on my grip and trigger pull. But I will practice when I can.

Below I was aiming at different areas of the target but I know I had some lows one but I think that is pulling the trigger.

All shots taken at around 25'.

I'm have plans for a 9mm Shield and practice with .22 . I was hitting to the left and Instructor helped out adjusting my grip and stance. I'm left eye dominant and shoot pistol right hand. Another thing that helped was a week day off at the range with just a few others there. Didn't worry about being precise and just blasted away, double tap and single fire getting used to handling pistols. Went through 400 rounds. my .22 , .38 Snub and two 9MM were solid black inside.

So I just finished this class tonight and happy to report that this grip didn't budge. the Stealthgear Onyx works great as an IWB holster with this gun too :). I was surprised by how many people in the class (men and women) had the shield . Every single person in class tonight shot a 9mm. A couple of the men tried mine and really liked the grip as well. A couple of glocks a HK and one ruger Lc9 rounded out the hardware people used tonight.

I have talon rubber grips on underneath(which helps hold this grip in place nicely). It widens it up a bit and helped me considerably today. So far it has stayed in place just fine. On the 21rst of this month I am taking the "Conceal Carry II" class at MFS four hours of defensive work "The class will cover:
- Combat grip, stance & trigger control
- The Draw from multiple positions & concealment
- Speed reloads
- Type 1 & 2 malfunctions and their clearing procedures
- Movement, verbal commands & shooting at the same time"
it's the 2nd of a series of 5 classes.
I'll have a much better idea then. I've shot it twice at the range so far with this grip on ...no problems yet.

Went to an outdoor range Sunday. Shot a couple hundred rounds at various targets. Even shot a steel target at 50 yards and did pretty well. Really starting to feel comfortable with the gun.
