I got a shipment of powder today, and noticed something odd, the printing that said "smokeless powder" had been taped over with black tape. I don't recall this being done before so I dug out a box that I got 6 months ago (from the same vendor) and it didn't have the tape. I wonder if this is some new requirement of the shipper (UPS). Not that it's a big deal, just seems like an extra and unnecessary step (especially with the big red gunpowder sticker )

Maybe UPS didn't want people to think they were telling them to "Smoke Less Powder." They might not want to look judgemental.

Maybe it justifies the Haz Mat Fee.? Tape is expensive ya know.

They should put it in a plain brown box like porn or something.:D

Got a gun returned (warranty) by Fed Ex a week ago. He says geez every package on this Street got a gun today.

It's gotta be a haz mat thing. Trying to avoid the extra fees.

Sent from my Lumia 1520

I received an 8 pound jug of IMR 4064 powder today delivered by FedEx and the box said IMR Powder on the side with the hazmat sticker so there was no attempt to hide what was in the box. It was also signature required when I answered the door as usual.

The printing on the long side of the box has a Business name & street address in it.
We know what it is,,but I've had different shippers ink those out or cover them w/a blank lable. The reasoning is that it's a second address on the box to the intended shipping lable and may cause delivery confusion or delay. OK fine,,,
The other is the Win web-site,,who knows,,,they see it as confusing contact info re: the shipper or recipient?
Just my guess in an increasingly strange world.

Could be the box was prepped to ship something other than powder (to avoid confusion) . . . then they used it for your powder shipment.

If you look at the picture of the ends of the boxes, they are both stamped "Autocomp" which is what I ordered. They both came from Graf and Sons, and they both were shipped UPS. The only difference was 6 months. The black tape is under the clear packing tape and shipping labels so I'm presuming the vendor put the black tape on before sealing the box. Also the lot number on the box end match the lot number of the powder bottles. Curiouser and curiouser :D Doesn't really matter (I got the powder). Just one of those things that makes you go "Hmmmm?"

I got 4 of those boxes from grafs, and none had tape
All had hazmat warning

Has the box been reused a couple of times? Maybe they shipped that box once with something else.

I have had shippers black out addresses on used boxes so only the current intended address is shown. You are right that "it's not a big deal".
