New Sig carry gun

Well I did it, I put $ down on a new carry gun. While I love my M&P 9c, I often find it too heavy. So today I put a Sig p938 on layaway. I look forward to when I am able to get it out of "jail". The pic is of the gun with the extended mag photoshopped in.

You will not be disappointed. I have had one for about two months and it feeds everything and is accurate light and compact. It has replaced my PM9. Congratulations.

I went back and forth between the p938 and the p290RS... I ended up with the p290RS as I prefer for my carry gun to not have a safety. Both are good shooters though. Surprisingly easy to control for such small sized 9mm pistols.

I come from a 1911 background. My competition gun has thumb safeties as does my 9c. For me, I feel more comfortable with the safety. Whenever I shoot one of our M&P Pros, I am always trying to turn off the safety, lol.
I know a lot of people prefer their cc gun to have no external safety. For me it's the opposite. But that's what makes us all different. Lol

I love my Nightmare. The P938 is my favorite CCW for sure. I carry it IWB appendix, OWB, and pocket (flush mag for pocket carry).

It's a great shooter. Surprisingly accurate and easy to control. It's got a nice crisp trigger and the ability to rack the slide with the safety on is nice. I haven't had any malfunctions with mine. I only use 124 gr rounds.

My wife liked the design and feel so much so decided on a P238 for herself.

I love my M&P Pro9 ,but the P938 is a good piece also, I think you will enjoy the pistol. Well built, solid weapon.

Congrats. It's definitely one of my favorite carry guns. It's pretty much the same size as my M&P 380. I like my Shield's just a little bit better because I'm more accurate with them.

I don't have one but I'm a major Sig fan owning several and my carry gun is a P228 9mm with 15 rounds in a Mec-Gar magazine and 1 in the chamber pistol but I will check these out to see if I'm interested.

Sorry, didn't mean to imply that I was knocking your choice... If you have spent a lot of time with a 1911 and it is second nature to you, then go with what you are familiar with.

I've shot revolvers and Glocks mostly... hence my decision to go without the safety.

I do have an older Colt .380 PocketLite... very much like a baby 1911. My son has since claimed it as his.

No worries Cypher. My feelings were not hurt. Like I said, each of us is different, that is what makes the world such a great place.

I got the gun today. With the stuff still hitting the fan in Ferguson, MO, the darling husband loaned me the money to finish getting the gun out of jail/layaway. He did not want me to be gunless if I was wearing non-gun belt attire.

Now it is time to clean and lube it so I can go shoot it!

USAF, an older gentleman who was in the store was trying fo talk me out of it saying that I wouldn't want to shoot it and that I "would cry the first time it got scratched". I explained that my guns were tools. However, there was no reason why my tools couldn't be pretty. It is my first "girlie" gun.
He assumed that I was a noob and he was treating me like that. Then he realized that I brought the trigger pull scale to test it and realized that I was more than a walking pair of boobs. Lol
I was dry firing it before I cleaned it. Interesting enough, the more I racked the slide and dry fired it, the harder the trigger pull got. I cleaned out the packing gunk, lubed it and dry fired it a bunch more. In the store I was getting a pretty consistent 6lbs. trigger pull. After cleaning, lubing and dry firing it about 50-60 times more, the trigger pull is now around 5.5 lbs. I know the more it is "fired" the better the trigger will get. But I am pretty happy with the current pull weight.

Got woken up a little after 3 a.m. by the security company calling to see if we were ok. Something triggered one of the motion sensors. It iis not a great feeling not knowing how to answer the security company when they ask if the police are needed.

I sent the darling husband to investigate with the 9c. I had 2 loose HD rounds in the gun case in our room. I figured loading an untested gun with 2 rounds was better then standing upstairs defenseless. At least I know that the new gun loads ammo ok. We have no idea what triggered the motion sensor, but the house looks secure.

Glad everything was ok for you and your cannon fodder...err...husband. Fotunately, husbands are slightly cheaper to put on layaway. Stay safe there.

USAF385, I have the same guns!

AGoyette is lucky. My P938 trigger pull was 14# out of the box. After a good bit of use, it is still a little heavy for my taste at 8#.

Here's a tip: I tried some WWB 147 FMJ in my P938, and it was way more comfortable to shoot than WWB 115. It was as comfortable as shooting the P238 .380! As the 147 has some meplat to it, it is now my 9mm carry ammo.
