New Snake Gun - But Not What I Expected..

Got my snake (a shooter 4 inch 1961 Python) about 5 years back and it gets along just fine with my smiths…

I can say the same, although I wouldn’t pass up a good deal on a current-production Python.

Nice new production Pythons, everyone!

The more I hear about CZ, the more impressed with them I get. They seem to be striving to be a first class firearm company, not a peddler of cheap junk.

I don't own any CZ branded firearms, but their .22 bolt action rifles have caught my eye.

I agree. I have 2 pythons and several DW 1911s. All have CZ’s fingerprints on them.

I just bought my Colt Python , 4.25" barrel . Already tried it out . Accuracy is phenomenal . I was shooting my magnum hand loads . My fiance shot 38 specials . She dearly loved it . Might be another one coming here soon . The LGS also had the 6" anaconda . I really enjoy shooting 44 magnums and if Colt made it in a 4" , I would just have to get one . Either way I would definitely get rid of the rubber grips . The Colt wood grips are available . My new python is a marvel , inside and out . The fit and finish is impecable . It fits my hand perfect . As for an older Python , I already have an older model Trooper that is identical to a python in size and iinternal parts . It lacks the ribbed and fluted barrel and better finish . It serves my need for older python well , especially since I only pd $475 for it and it had been carried a little and shot even less , finish was great . Regards Paul

Enjoyed the post by Bustedup. Reminded me of my own early days. In 1970 I bought my first handgun, a Colt Detective Special. Three years later I was sworn in to the local PD and was issued a worn out looking Smith mod.10 4" bull barrel. Oh boy could that gun group. The D/A trigger was fabulous and S/A crisp.

Went for my first qualification and the Captain says shoot as tight a group as you can. I put six rounds, mostly touching, in the targets nose. Capt's mad. "Who do you think you are, Jesse James? Put the freakin' bullets center mass."

I've been a S&W revolver fan ever since. Dumped the D/S and went to J frames too. Never looked back. I have a couple of Sigs now mostly because 9mm. is half the price of .38's. I would like a mod. 60 PC. A 3" Kimber K6s has a even better trigger. But Colts, had their chance. They do look pretty.

New owner of a new 6" Anaconda. Needed something to shoot full power 44 mag, as my other 44 is a 2.75 Model 69.

I had some spent cases from the 69, they won't fit in the Colt's chambers (is that the right term for a Colt???). Think I will dedicate some virgin brass for the Anaconda.

Colt Anaconda & Smith 69 2 3/4 bbl.

Quick story, I hunted deer with a 8” Anaconda with a Leupold 2 1/2 X 8 handgun scope. The Anaconda was very accurate and very well made, also very heavy. Due to medical issues, I picked up a new S&W model 69 short bbl. It is mounted with a Trijicon MRO. About 1/2 the weight of my Anaconda setup. I shoot Barnes 225 gr 44 mag factory. I have VZ grips on it. It handles the recoil very well. Can’t wait for deer season in Pa.

They're all that, and a bag of chips imo.

REALLY liking my new 3" Python.

357 magger, If you don’t mind, where did you get the T grip for your 3” Python? I have a 3” Python also and looking for one. Mine also has the Colt service grips. Love the look.

I've had a chance to shoot the Anaconda 6". "Moderate magnum load", a 200 gr cast with 17 gr of AA #7.
Basic 2 hand grip the factory sight setting is almost dead on. Double action trigger is light and smooth. This is the first revolver I feel that I can shoot very accurately DA.
This gun is pricey but you kind of get what you pay for. It makes 44 magnum range time "fun" rather than a test of endurance.
