Over the last 6 weeks I have been putting together a new studio/man cave. It started out by finding a portable 20'X10' building, getting a foundation built for it, getting it delivered and then fitting it out.

I will still have my main man cave for my firearms and reloading. This one is for my guitars, home practice area and hopefully some video and audio recording.

I have been thinking about this for a number of years. We live in a small "colonial cottage" which for Kiwiland means built in the 1890's. Originally a four room "shotgun shack", over the years another bedroom a sunroom (my current music room) and kitchen/laundry/bathroom annex were added. But it is still small and rather cluttered.

The necessity for more room inside arose early this year. Karen had a mild heart attack, followed by a, fortunately, mild stroke while a stent was put in place, She was in hospital for a month and when she came home her mobility was still limited. It is getting better but she still has to negotiate a small obstacle course each day.

One of the first items to go into the studio were the three new bookcases I had to install. We are both voracious readers who like to read most of our books several times. and the two big bookcases in our living rom were eoverflowing. Bye the time all but two shelves for my guitar accessories were full of our books, there was still only enough space inside for about another years' purchases .

And I finally got to display the flags and a few other items purchased on our American trips.

...we will be praying for Karen to quickly and completely recover! I was happy to see the Texas flag hanging there and fondly remember our pleasant visits during your time here. The only problem I see with the music studio is how difficult it will be for you to be anywhere else.

Oh wow, I've already said a prayer for Karen, that's a tough one for sure.
That's a really cool space you have going on there, Kiwi, and ya gotta love the flags!
There's a company that makes a Chesterfield leather chair with the Union Jack that looks pretty cool too. I had contemplated getting one for my cigar lounge if I can find one used and broken in already, but then my lounge is Scottish medieval themed and the Danes and Saxons were mortal enemies back then. lol

Thanks Dave. While the new facility is only about 5 steps from the sunroom French Doors, the Sunroom has only a single door between it and our living room. This time of year there AAre days when I do not open that door. It will require a concious decision to go out there, just as it requires one to head out to my exercise/reloading man cave now.

But yes, it will be a welcom refuge and see a lot of use.

Might have to soften up the surfaces a bit for recording.
"The room" can sound nice for a one take instrument / vocal, but getting much into multi tracking, the reverb will give you fits.
You certainly have a nice start there
