Saw these in the duty free airport shop. Pretty cool design. I like the fact they are so compact but still have interchangeable lenses...anyone have any experience with these...opinions?

They are called EVIL cameras. Electronic Viewfinder Interchangeable Lens. As you can see, there is no through the lens mirror or pentaprism viewfinder allowing the camera to be smaller than the "normal" DSLR. Great as long as whoever is making the screen for the back makes it so it can be seen in direct sunlight. On a photo forum I belong to, the younger crowd seems to swear by them while the more traditional (older) photographers simply swear at them.:D

Have owned two of them. One with electronic viewer, one without.
The NEX-7 with viewer- did not like the view. Found it to be low res and kind of jerky and not what the scene really looked like.
NEX-3 - no viewer. Hard to see the image in bright light which is where I usually shoot. Has a Mickey Mouse screw on flash.
Both take excellent photos, both have a pan feature which I like. I also
Like the live light spectrum read out. Allows you to crank the f stop to get the exposure you want.
Traded off the NEX-7 for a Holy Smith. My only Holy gun!
I still like to look through the hole and view the scene through the lens.
Presently shooting a Nikon D-5100, in the market for a D-7100.

Another plus on the viewfinder. Watch out for duty free shops sometimes the manufacture won't honor a grey camera warranty. Looks like they are up to the NEX 7 now $1099.99 from the Sony store so cheaper in real life with 18-55mm lens.

I have a cheapie adapter which allows me to use my Nikon lens on the Sonys'. The shorter ones work well. Especially the older D series. I have a 20mm that takes excellent pics on the Sony. It's a manual focus situation, but for you non photo folks- for a given F stop, you get more depth of field as the lens gets shorter. So focus is not that big of deal for the shorter lens. You can preset and adjust as required.
When I tried the longer lens, the first thing I noticed was as the lens gets longer and bigger the less difference the camera size makes.
So a small camera with a big lens is a big camera. Might as well go back to the Nikons so I did.
