New to carrying and got the P scared out of me!

I've had a California concealed carry permit since 1958 - they now tell me each time I renew it, that's it's may be oldest permit in Calif. Maybe. I've been in two confrontations in the 58 yrs., both ended in my favor w/o having to shoot anyone ( attempted muggings and the perps left quickly the first time and the 2nd time, I got the drop on the perp, cuffed him and turned him over to local LEOs.), but w/o my .44 Charter Arms Bull Dog intimidating my opponents, I would have had a serious brawl on my hands. I think an adage I have heard - "Never Pick a Fight with an Old Guy, 'cause he will kill you!" probably has some sense to it! Up to a couple years ago, you could open carry unloaded long arms in Calif., however some of the over zealous gun owners started showing up at public functions with their unloaded rifles and shotguns, which caused a lot of concern with citizens and LEOs, as it was not always easy to tell if all the guns were unloaded. The Legislature quickly passed laws against open carry of any kind, even BB & Toy guns. So, sometimes even exercising a right can quickly back fire on you, so I can understand that open carry by groups of gun owners at urban public functions was not a smart move and the results should not have been a surprise to them. The burgers were fair but nothing special - place was called Way Back Burgers, new in town.
Still searching for a really good burger place.

Although looking for a good burger joint can be fun at times I've found that over the years, there is no better burger joint than your own kitchen or back yard.

As far as your CC story goes, I remember those days. Then I quickly realized, hey, If I'm properly carrying concealed, they should never know.
