Hi All,:)

I'm new to the forum.

I just ordered an Shield 9mm last week and I'm so excited to pick it up. I'm waiting for the road to clear-out first before heading out after the snow/ice/rain storm we had here.

Meanwhile, I ran into these three laser brands: LaserMax, LaserLyte, and Crimson Trace LG-489. I'm not sure which one is the best fit and function for the Shield?
There are mix reviews on how one is inferior over the others by means of: Dot brightness, pulses vs solid beam, requires re-calibrate after each firing (due to recoils) and price wise.

I might not be using the Shield much, It just nice to have accessory to add-on. I'm so in the middle of the road on which one I should get?

Can someone please guide me on through this? :o

:) Happy Holiday Everyone :)

Welcome aboard from the Gunshine state. I'm not much for the lights or lazers, but I do work at a gun shop and can say hands down the Crimson Trace. The activator is where it should be, under a finger on the grip. All you do is take a propper shooting grip and the lazer comes on. The others are activated by your finger tip on the trigger finger. So your bugger hook now has a third job... just my feelings for sure. Good gun, good choice, good forum!

Welcome from Missouri.

I say enjoy your new gun for a while before you start to accessorize it. You might find you like the stock sights after you shoot it.

I have two CT one on a SIG .40 and one on a KAHR .45. I like their activation button on the grip as when I grip and hold it, it turns on, the laser is activated when the gun is held in a natural firing grip, the others you have to turn on with your pointer finger (trigger finger) on the front of the trigger guard which isn't a problem for most. For me I just like the idea of grabbing and it's on.

CT gives free batteries for life also if that would help you any.

Anyway a warm welcome from “wild and wonderful “ West Virginia at least that’s what they tell us.

Welcome from snowy, free kin cold Minnesota! I have a Crimson Trace laser grip on one of my Kimber 1911's and have been very pleased with it. The activator is under my "waving" finger right where it works the best. Battery life is great. Think you would be happy with it. My advice, learn how to shoot a new gun with the original grips before switching to a laser.

Welcome to the forum from the Gunshine State.

I have a Shield 40 and have the LaserMax for it. It was purchased mainly for dry fire practice. It has been replaced by the company 3 times in the last 7 months due to the laser blurring out. At this point it is still on the gun for aesthetics and the fact that I don't want to spend more money right now on holsters. As someone above posted; get used to the gun without any accessories and get used to the sights before you start adding anything on. You may love it as it is.

You stated yourself you may not be using it very much, which I doubt once you have the Shield in your hand. :D Spend the money you would use on the laser for ammo, a good holster/belt or training.

Congrats on the purchase.

Thank you ALL for quick responds. I'm stuck with cleaning out the snow and ice around the house. I'll definitely going to pick up this weekend.

Welcome from the panhandle of West Virginia.
Is your shield going to be your carry gun or just a range toy? If you're going to carry it then you should get lotsa practice shooting it using the sights. Lasers are pretty cool and can help in low light situations, just don't let it be a crutch. I use the laser on my 442 more for dry fire practice than anything else.

Welcome to the forum!

You're gonna hate the Shield, so just send it to me, I'll break it in for you! :)
