Bought off of Gunbroker, I know I paid more than the going price but that's OK in this case because while not a collector, it was in the condition I wanted and I went for the buy it now price because I didn't want to miss out. I am curious though, on what the max you experts out there would have paid for it.
I'm happy so you aren't going to hurt my feelings. The gun is in as good of condition as the pictures indicate, no flame cutting or erosion, and except for the "normal" cylinder ring looks as I think it might have right out of the box.

Let's see if I can get these auction pictures uploaded...

That is a very nice 19-3 4" Combat Magnum! I'd have grabbed it too. The only 4" dash 3 I own (pictured below) is finished in original nickel, is missing its original target stocks and I paid $450 for it about 3 years back (I thought that was a good deal). I suspect one with nearly perfect blue and targets would go for more than that, but I rarely see them around here.
Enjoy your great find!

Beautiful gun. No expert here but I would pay $750 with the box and papers. First to chime in here and test my guess. Enjoy that gun it is very nice. Cheers, Ted

JP@AK That is a very nice 19 too. Thanks for the pic. $450 is a good price even back then.

A 4" 19-3, 3Ts, stated condition approximating NRA "perfect" or "excellent", presuming no box, tools or docs since you didn't mention any...

If I were in the market, I'd go as high as $750...but of course, I'd push for less. ;)

IMO in today's inflated market $750.00 would not be out of line. As I believe the only problem with instant gratification is it takes to long, I may have well paid somewhat more if I really wanted it.

No matter what you paid it's a great looking revolver.

Very nice, 19's are my favorites!

If you post the serial we can give you an estimated shipping year.
The pics are too blurry to make out the rollstamps which usually give a clue as well.

Im guessing there is a number prefix in the serial ? 2k, 3k 4k 5k ?

BTW The white crayon in the barrel rollstamps is not original.

Not that it matters, but, in my neck of the woods, in that condition $750 to $800. If it had the original box, papers and tools maybe a bit more.

But, IMHO, it doesn't matter. If you're happy with the deal then it's a good deal. You certainly got yourself a prom queen that will be around and still beautiful long after all of us are gone. :)

shoot and enjoy.

Bob

Yeah...I kind of thought the previous owner did that because he was displaying it rather than shooting it and thought maybe the filled in lettering enhanced the curb appeal?

Anyone know the best way to remove the filler without damaging the blueing?

SN is K7109xx

Seems a little low for a 19-3 serial...
Double check the serial stamped on the heel by removing the grips and confirm.

Is there a number before the "K" serial ?
Ampersands point to 70's production but the serial you posted is closer to 1967 and probably more associated with 19-2's.

I have heard others say Acetone removes the crayon without damaging the finish but have never tried it so ask around before proceeding.

What picture are you looking at, I can't see any white crayon.

I'm in the $750 ballpark, too. As a matter of fact, I just put down a deposit on one without the target options. Dealer was asking $700, I got it for $650. I need another 19 like a hole in the head, but they're too hard to come by to pass up a pretty one.

My bad...it's 7K10xxx

Most likely shipped sometime in mid to late 1974..

PS there is no danger in posting serials,
We do it every day on the SWCA forum for ship dates .

Just copycatting...I never knew why that was anyhow. I suppose one could report that such and such a model with such and such a serial number was stolen (to whom I wouldn't know) and possibly cause a headache or two but I suspect that possibility is so far down in the noise level probably not worth giving a second thought to.

Assuming it's crayon, a wooden toothpick and a hair dryer has always worked for me...
