Hello everybody. I just picked up a S&W 64-3 3" the other day at a local pawn shop. It sat under the glass for about a couple of weeks before I happened upon it. Taking a big chance, I decided to sleep on it. The next morning it was all I could think about so I decided to see if it was still there. And thank God it was! I negotiated the price (which wasn't so bad to start with) down. It has no box or papers but was just too good to pass up. I put some Uncle Mike's on it and it feels great in my hand. Anyway, I thought you might like to see it.

I called S&W and the customer service rep said it was made in December 1987. I was amazed. It practically looks brand new.

Very nice! I have a 3" M64-3 as well. It was an ex PD pistol. I bought it back in the day when you could hardly give away a 3" .38 Special M64, I am glad that I did, it is one of my favorite shooting S&W's!

Thank you everyone for the kind words about this revolver. I'm so glad I picked it up. It feels so well-balanced! Does anyone know why S&W went with such a thick barrel on these firearms?

I saw this thread a few days ago. It made me remember my second 3" 64 I sold earlier this year. I was at two gun shows today and saw several interesting Smiths. Found a three inch stainless Smith sitting on a table. It was a little rough and turned out to be a 65. After a short discussion it came home with me.

Yes, there are treasures to be found at pawn shops. You never know what you'll find under the glass! Some shops even have a decent return policy on used firearms.

A 3" M-64 is my EDC.

Congrats, that was a steal[emoji6]
