Walked into the LGS to settle up some NFA paperwork and he had a bunch of "junk" guns on the counter waiting for a wholesaler to come pick them up. Caught a glimpse of a dirty dingy 64-3 with Pachmayrs on it and was able to score it for $249. A little polishing and some new Hogue combats and you wouldn't even know it was in the junk pile. I have about $310 invested in it with the grips. How'd I do? :D

Oh - you did real well on that one. Those grips look great on that guns. Enjoy!!! PEN

That 's awfully bland wood, but if the grip fits your hand and you like it, you did well.

I'd have probably left the Pachmayrs on, but that 's a personal thing.
I also like the discontinued Uncle Mike's grips.

The gun was a gem at the price. I'm just glad that it polished up okay. A couple of years ago, $350 was a common price, but they've gone up.

I agree that they look bland in the picture. They are a bit darker in real life, but I was surprised at how light they were when I received them. A little bit disappointed, but still better then rubber in my opinion. They are supposed to be Goncalo Alves but I'm wondering what Hogue really did here.. lol Next time I'll go Rosewood or Coco Bolo to ensure a deeper coloring.

Are you just going to look at it or do you plan to shoot it?

I would need to see a nice 15 yard off hand group to tell how you did.

I shoot all my guns, just have to wait a few weeks while I nurse a broken foot.

I like it. One of my favorite revolvers is my 3" Model 64 round butt. I wouldn't mind having a 4" model 10 or 64.

You picked a great gun at a LOW price! What's not to like about that? I have a 64-3. It shoots so well, as yours should do also! Congrats! Bob
