Went by one of the local pawn shops and picked up a nice condition S&W 686-1. What years were these in production, and are there any common problems with this -1 model. I took it apart and everything seems to be in excellent condition and for $450.00 I thought I should take it off there hands. I plan on taking it to the range tomorrow and see how she shoots. This one seems to have the nicest, smoothest, and shortest trigger pull of all of my revolvers.

If I had of found it for $450 in clean condition, I probably would have adopted it myself. My local shop has a 6" that they want $600 for. They also have a 585 Nickel they want $595 for. I think you did just fine. I have a 686-1 and it has always worked fine. Mine has had a Power Custom Combat job done on it, and the cylinder went to Clark for a Moon Clip conversion. It is the wifes house gun, and does not get shot much. Rnjob

Nice catch. I have bought 2 of the 681s and still have one. Both of them had butter smooth triggers. I have several revolvers but none of them have smooth triggers like the 681s.

Congratulations! I also picked up my 6" 686-1 for $450 recently!

I think they were made in 1986 for one year only - that's based on other threads in this blog.
