Greetings - I am also a new 686 owner, having visited a show yesterday and finding EXACTLY what I was looking for. This is my first revolver, and after much reading, I knew this was the one. What a nice piece! The Ahrends grips were a bonus thrown in, and work well with my smaller hands. This 686 is an AARnnnn vintage - around 1981? I am looking to give it a really good cleaning, especially on the carbon build-up on the front of the cylinder. Anything else I need to know to take good care of this gun? Looking forward to going to the range soon and also learning lots from this forum! Thanks.
