I have been wanting one of these for a while. I came across this for under $400 and hosed or not... I Jumped on it. Looks to be mid 70's vintage.

I can see no use other than the super light turn ring.
I definitely plan on shooting it and carrying it after a good once over.

That is a wonderful buy on a very sought after S&W revolver for concealed carry.

Bryco,

Good find! I also just got one (from November 1982) a couple of weeks ago for $187 OTD.

Mine is blued and is LNIB also. I have been after a steel-framed J-Frame for several years. They are good to have around.

I'm having my hammer bobbed, trigger rounded and polished and the cylinder charge holes.

Enjoy it!

Thanks all! These seem to be commanding a much higher price than what I paid on the auction sites. I have been scouring the pawn shops and guns shops looking for one for a while. Should be a fine running 36.

I've got a LNIB model 36, too. It has some of the best bluing of any of my guns, including my 27. Mine is a round butt, but I like the look of your square butt. I've actually shot mine quite extensively, and it is possible to clean them up so they keep looking new.

First off, beautiful 36! I love j frames. Is it possible that this gun has been refinished? It's hard to see the pics on my phone (my main access to the Internet), but to me it looks like the logo is a bit worn and the bottom of the side plate looks like the edge was removed a bit (from polishing). Like I said it could just be me or the way the pics look on my phone. With that being said, I would have paid what you did, refinish or not since I'm not into collecting. So either way, I don't think you did bad on the price at all.

Very nice 36!! Looks to be in great shape. Have a couple myself and they are great shooters as well as being so purty. I think for a 36 like that, under $400 is a very good price. In ten years we'll wish we could have bought a few more of them at that price. IMHO

Who the Hell sells a LNIB Model 36 for $187 in CA of all Places?!?

Nope! I also saw that they have a LNIB Model 37 S/B for sale in the original box. Looks unfired. I'm trying to talk myself out of that one. I could get it for $500.

I have a 1998-vintage Model 38, a 1981-vintage Model 37 Nickel, the Model 36 (1982). Not sure if I need another J-Frame!

Could have been, I am not sure nor care :) It is pretty tight and does not have a butter smooth trigger worn in yet. If it was shot....It wasn't much at all.

I wouldn't care either. Just wondering if my eyes were playing tricks on me. Enjoy your 36!
