I just recieved my father's old Model 10-5 with a 4" barrel. This was originally purchased in December of 1972 and has never been fired. I have the reciept, manual, warranty card, and box of ammo that he bought with it.

Needless to say I can't wait to go out and shoot!!!! Although I won't be using the 37 year old ammo.

I believe that this will be a perfect gun for my wife and 14 year old daughter to shoot.

I want to thank everyone now for such a great resource. I have only been lurking for a couple of hours and you have answered many questions.

Brad.

Welcome to the forum! You got a nice one there and being your Dad's is special. Most all tens are regulated for 158gr round nose lead ammo and that is a good place to start to see where she shoots. Enjoy

Thanks for the tip on the 158gr lead round nose.

This is definitely a revolver that I will not be getting rid of. I am especially nostalgic now that he is gone. I am starting to go to work lately wearing wing tips with my jeans and sport coat.

Just another way to remember him.

Again thanks for the tip.

Brad

Welcome to the forum. As you have determined there are many threads on the Mod 10. I also have the standard barrel 10-5 and it is a joy to shoot. Hope your family has fun at the range with it. I shoot either 158 or 148gr LRN or LSWC, whichever I can find.

I inherited a Model 10-5 of my Father's and it was made in 1968 and has a 6 inch barrel. It will never leave the family and it only has less then 100 rounds through it.
