New to Me Model 14-4

14-4

That's a fine looking 14-4.

Looks like after markets to me.
Those grips look like targets except for the fact that there is no S&W escutcheon, and of course the carved design.

Are their any marking inside the grip panels?

Nice 14! Aftermarket stocks, but if they work for you, don't sweat it. You can always pick up some Magna, or target stocks. My 14-3, with target stocks. Bob

I am 99% certain that your target grips are Eagle Grips. They have been producing grips since the early '70s and are still in business today. I have a set that I bought back in the early 80s, and they are quite nice and very serviceable. Their grips have always been made in India or Illinois. Back when your grips were made, the business was owned and run by Harbans Singh, a naturalized citizen from India. Don't know if Eagle is still owned by the Singh family or not. Here is a link to an article from the NRA's American Rifleman in 2012 regarding Eagle Grips.

Ack

I hate when these Model 14 threads pop up, lol

I've been trying to find an 8 3/8" barrel version for a while, but I've been outbid a few times, the stars just won't align.

Nice score, BTW, congrats!

PS, normally I'm a fan of Target grips on S&W revolvers, but when/if I score a 14, I'll put Magnas on it, to me it just looks "right" on these.
